INSTRUCTIVE COMPARISONS #6
In reference to: SANCTIFICATION
1 Corinthians 1:1,2... Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother. To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, both theirs and ours.
Hebrews 2:11. For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren.
1 Peter 1:1,2... Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2: elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit; for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.
Jude 1... Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ;
Since there are several different takes on just what it means to be sanctified, here is the definition of that word: The word sanctified in Greek is hagia[d]zo, and means: to make holy, to purify or consecrate, to set apart.
Since Paul, the writer of Hebrews (we will not address that issue here), Peter, and Jude all use the same terminology, doesnt common sense tell us they were addressing the same subject?
Obviously, those who are sanctified enter into that state of being set apart and preservation by means of being in Christ Jesus as Paul phrased it; or.. being in Jesus Christ as Jude phrased it.
Would those who have declared that only Pauls writings are for The Church/Body-of-Christ please explain How Peter and Jude arrived at the identical position of being sanctified by means of being in Christ if they were not an integral part of His Body?
