Insane Clown Posse = Good/Bad Influence?

I think you could find something ,mildy religous in any type of music.

Cradle of Filth's Damnation in a Day was based around the fall of Lucifer or something. I highly doubt the legitemecy of ICP's "Holyness" factor.

I mean Piggy Pie....just look at the lyrics. I wont post them here but part of the song is about killing a cop. How religous is that? The whole song is about killing. Its a good song but I wouldnt go so far as to say it was founded on religous terms. The group may be christian but it just seems their songs in general are not.

As for them being a bad influence? No. I don't think so. Its all up to the person. Music does not cause you to kill someone. Saying it does is only giving people a excuse to use when they kill someone. "Well the music told me to!" the game told me to!

just because they used a piece of artwork inspired by something another band thought of. i bet icp even listens to children of bodom or what ever, that does make them thieves. now as far are good or bad influence goes. there just preaching the same thing to an underground that needs to here it. and they do do alot of entertaining, hence the make up

I really need to vent about this and get some views on this. Its 5:18am so i might be a lil out of it but i'll try to make as much sense as possible.

Let me start off by telling everyone that I am not a Christian. For the sake of my girlfriend, Jessica, I really wish I were. She's Christian, and I love her to death. We've been together for close to 2 years but she knows that she'll never merry a non-christian. Okay, so now to my problem...

(this may be a long read but I really, really need some input on this.)

For the last 3 years, Insane Clown Posse have been my favorite band. They are the most misconcepted band in the world. Most people judge them by look and name. For those who dont know about ICP, let me give you a real quick rundown on who they are.

ICP came out around 89, and heres' their story. The 2 members that make up the ICP, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, claim to have one night been visited by spirits claiming that 6 powerful spirits will rise, and when all have risen, "the end will consume us all".

So in forms of albums, ICP released the 6 Jokers Cards. The first one called Carnival Of Carnage. Basically, it was an album talking about death, killing, etc. Real violent stuff.

Each Jokers Card was similar, but slowly shifted its view. While the first Jokers Card was pure violence and hatred, the next 5, while still violent, focused more on morals and whats right and wrong. Subliminally, ICP was teaching its fans what was right and what was wrong.

ICP's songs are very imaginitive. One song, called "Halls Of Illusions", talks about a ride in the Dark Carnival that straps you down onto a coaster, and pulls you through a long hallway depicting what "could have been" if you werent such a bad person while living. Then it shows how it actually is, and is so tortured.

(By the way, they call their fans Juggalos and Juggalettes)

Blah blah blah, i know you want me to get to the point. Basically, ICPs last Jokers Card, called The Wraith was released and it was nothing like the other Jokers Cards. On the last song of the CD, they say a couple of powerful lyrics. I insist on downloading "The Unveiling" by ICP to feel the power they deliver when saying this.

"Now we been told this Carnival sh*t has touched on many lives,
people have f*ckin sworn to us they too can feel it inside,
what is it that draws you in, this magic that compells you?
We've been waiting 6 f*ckin Jokers Cards to finally tell you,
The messages and hints were there, although most never picked up on'em,
we snuck'em in subliminally, with that wicked sh*t around'em,
we mention more and more of this on every jokers card,
the bottom line always the same, you dont have to look hard,
We wickedly kick it, inflict it, you get it, and freak it, we dont preach it flat out,
cuz some people dont wanna get with ya, they quick to forget you without the make up and get-up,
So we rose the Hatchet do or die, and now Juggalos standing tall,
Afterall 6 have risen, the end of time will consume us all!
It aint got nuthin to do with us! It aint Psychopathic Records!
All we doin' is pointin' sh*t out for you, we in this together!
Who invented Juggalos and Juggalettes and f*ckin Faygo showers?
What about that feeling you get when bumpin our sh*t, whos behind the Juggalo Power?!
This aint no f*ckin fanclub! It aint about makin a buck!
Dont buy our f*ckin action figures, b*tch, I dont give a F*CK!
Truth is we follow God! We've always been behind him!
AND MAY ALL JUGGALOS FIND HIM!"

OOOkay i know you really want me to end this post. Now that you've (hopefully) read everything, i can ask for some help. My girlfriend thinks ICP are bad influences on me, and although teach a good message, has alot of death and violence written all over it. This is where we argue to no end. I know that ICP has alot of violence, but its all "cartoonish". I ignore the violence behind it see the message of what it is.

What are your guys opinions behind ICP and/or the situation i'm in?

(please no "ICP sucks" replies, i've gotten that anywhere else and i'm really hoping that you guys are helpful people. Thanks for your time and allowing me to vent. Whew.
Dude ICP is not a very good band brother. I recommend anything but ICP. For god's sake friend can I give you a list of bands to check out?

I've never listened to them myself; I have friends who love them (and call themselves Juggalos)... But whatever floats your boat.

I don't know enough about them to say anything about bad/good influence; All I can say is that thing about the last song on The Wraith is interesting... Worth finding out about.

Quote from an ICP song:
Yeah, what's up, man?
ICP in this [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]
Ya know what I'm saying
All you [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]es, man
Come over to my house
And I'ma take ya upstairs
And I'ma stick you with my wang
Ya know what I'm saying?
I stuck her with my wang
She hit me in the balls
I grabbed her by her neck
And I bounced her off the walls

And that's all that needs to be written.
Would a Christian or someone promoting moral behavior ever write anything like this? No!
ICP are not bringing people to Christ or promoting moral behavior. They are doing the opposite.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is blinding themselves. You can't use filth to create something clean
thus you can't use trashy lyrics to promote what's good and right.

First, not all of their songs are like that, they do have some deep songs. Second, just because they are "not bringing people to Christ or promoting moral behavior" doesn't mean they are bad music artists. You're kind of dissing them just because they don't show characteristics of the Christian religion in their music. They're freakin rapping clowns, not church pastors. What do you expect? Seriously.:sigh:

That's like saying the Evil Dead movies promote extreme violence.

It's a joke. The movies have extreme gore in a jokey sort of way. They're not taking it seriously, they're making fun of violence.

It's the same way with those sort of lyrics.

I dont think its a bad influence because you can learn worse crap in school. however I have yet to see the ICP song that doesnt have the f word in there 9 times. Course it really doesn't matter.

This is just shock music. Like dope, marilyn manson, or any others. Its there to make people mad. Who cares they have their share of good songs and bad ones. I don't really like them but hey I have to hear their music on a daily basis so I have grown used to them.

TBH I could live without em. Their not impressive, being much like slipknot or KISS with the maggots and the KISS army. Juggalos are the same thing, just from what I have heard from REAL juggalos is they are not violent despite the music but if you mess with one you have to deal with them all. Just like a big family.

People call em a gang but the way I see it is gangs go and commit crimes in a organized fashion, Juggalos dont. There may be a few that do commit crimes but the whole idea is to be the family you never really had or something. Same as the KISS army or Slipknots Maggots.

Clowns clowns clowns. Thats about it. Their not a bad group but not a great one.
