I don't think Shangrila's looking for our opinions on ICP's music, but rather our thoughts on their spiritual message that has been apparently growing somewhat subconciously over their last few albums.

Shang, I say that if they are being honest, it will show through all of their future works, not just one or two tracks off an album. You have to use your mind and your heart to tell yourself if their message is honest or not.

See but thats where i'm stuck; i'm not sure what to make of it all.

I know i've been heavy on the quotes from songs but considering nobody here listens to them it really helps people understand. I'm gonna post a song called "Terrible" by ICP that basically shows how screwed up the world is. And it makes us(Juggalos) realize it and we want to make a difference. This is one of those songs that have a hidden message behind it...i know reading a full ICP song can be nausiating for some, but please, help me out. Be warned, LOTSA cuss words...but that ICP for ya. Thanks.

======================
Insane Clown Posse - "Terrible"
(Album: Amazing Jeckel Brothers: The 5th Jokers Card)

What you consider DRAMA ain't all that
It's just that your wack
With your intergalactic satellite data compress
YES, though you can't feed the homeless
And then OJ's wack story unfolded
Everybody watched that while Oklahoma exploded
900 good reasons why this world really don't care
That's what it costs for a wheel chair!!

What you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Terrible, what you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Is she so terrible you gotta beat her you ***** *** wack mutha****a!

La di da we gotta protest that
Some rock and roll ninja bit the head off a rat
Let's march in his concert and chant him to hell
Cause he's so ****ing TERRIBLE!
Meanwhile his record sales double and triple
Cause of YOU worrying bout him rubbing his nipple
Religious?
****, you helped them bands
Instead of helping them poor people eating outta them garbage cans
When your done with that *****, come protest me
Shiiiiit mutha****a, I could use the money
The whole world was crying when Kurt went CoBANG!
When Eazy-E died though, it wasn't no thang
Rapper dies of aids but you hardly mention
Rocker blows his face off and becomes a legend
Heroine and a shot gun, a hero was made
Maybe I should do that **** so J can get paid

What you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Terrible, what you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Are your kids so terrible you gotta beat on them too you drunk mutha****a?

Rebel flag, in your schools
Rebel flag, in your parks
Rebel flag, in your court rooms
Rebel flag, in your hearts
Rebel flag, stood for slavery
Rebel flag, stood for war
Rebel flag, stood for hatred
But just go ahead and hang your flag up some more

The country we live in was built by slaves
Beat down and murdered and stuffed in they graves
You put a slave owner on a 1 dollar bill
And you wanna know why I kill people!!!!
Bombs are blowing up, cops are corrupt
And all ya care about is who the president ****ed!
You don't know terrible, you will
As soon as Hell's wagons come over the HILL!

What you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Terrible, what you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
You don't even know whats the **** is in store for that ***** *** of yours
Let me get a look at that ***** *** of yours
There it is, it looks like a *****es *** you ***** *** mutha****a!!!!
Terrible, what you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Terrible, what you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Terrible, what you know bout terrible?
Terrible, you don't know what's terrible
Terrible, what you know bout terrible?

One can preach on the problems of the world and not be spiritual/godlike. Secular music can have positive message, even revolutionary stance, it doesn't make it spiritual.

If you are wondering if their music is becoming spiritual you have to look for praise in their lyrics. They have to give glory to God. If they do not somehow thank Him, honor Him or evangelize others to lead them to Him, it's may be good, positive music but it's not spiritual.

I think you have to just keep an eye on their future releases and judge for yourself.

Thanks for posting the lyrics, my negative but uninformed opinion of them is changing somewhat now that I have read some of their messages.

Yo, I've been listening to ICP for awhile now. I definately see what you're saying. They do talk about punishment for the bad thing people do, and rewards for the good. But the words and images they use to convey that message is why I quit listening to them. I mean look at the example you gave, I bought that cd, when I heard that I didn't know what to think. I mean they cuss while they say they follow God? You missed a line in that song by the way, at the end it says "The carnival is God and may all juggalos find Him". But dude, If you care for this girl, you need to drop ICP, they have alot of talent, and they say things I have to agree with. I have turned alot of peeps on to ICP in my time, I still have Great Milenko, Amazing Jeckyll Bros, and The Wraith in the car, as well as the Wizard of the Hood (Violent J's spoof of Wizard of Oz). But I won't listen to them. This probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but you need to drop ICP. Your girl will be happy, which will in turn make you happy. I mean it's either a band or the person you've been with for 2 years, simple decision. Hope this helps some. Holla.

When did u stop listening to them? The latest CD u mentioned, Wizard Of The Hood, only came out on the Gathering this year so you couldnt have stopped listening to them too long ago. If youve been listening to them since Milenko, they're "darkest" era, then what made you stop listening to them now? especially when they're in their "heavenly" era?

well, i have always been a fan of icp. I have liked the sound of the music. I have heard the messages in some songs. They always diss the devil. They never talk bad about God. But one thing that i dont get is if they say they love God and follow him, then why do they sing the way they do, and talk about voodoo. Something else to talk about?? dont know. But i havent heard nothing about Jesus from them also..

I used to occasionally listen to them, before I became a christian, but then I just hated rap anyways, i didnt like the sound of it. I'll admit, this makes me look at them in a new way...Gods people are found in the strangest places.
BTW, perhaps you sould consider christianity.

Hmmm, Well let me start off by giving you some background on myself, I worked at a record store that recently closed for 3 years. We were a independent record store that over the years developed a huge customer base. That customer base included many ICP fans. The owners of our store also owned a local venue that "sometimes" featured national acts that couldn't sell out a bigger venue. So those two mixed together meant that ICP played that venue many times, and during 2002 ICP had a instore singing tour to promote their newest album. They stopped by our store along that tour. I had the chance to meet the 2 of them and talk for a few minutes after they had their time with the fans. They were 2 of the nicest guys I've ever met, well spoken manners etc etc. They were actualy listening to Pearl Jam Ten when I talked with them. That said they get paid to entertain, plain and simple, just like Marilyn Manson. Do they mean everything they say? Maybe. The fact is they were smart enough to create a new gimmick that many many people have latched onto and find interesting.

I don't think anyone should base their life on any cd or cds. If you want to listen to something that voices opinions on violence in that way it's important that your mature enough to understand that it all entertainment. I just find it hard to believe that either of the members of ICP have ever killed rednecks like they've said on the cds. Listen and watch what you like but no where the line is.

ICP aren't really talented artists to begin with :p.

Basically, you have to ask if they're actually going to be an influence at all. If this is for a kid, are they the impressionable type who doesn't already have a role model? That's all you need to discern. Once you know that, you have to decide if it's good or bad, because they're just subjective constructs :).

Some of the lyrics from "Pass Me By" by ICP.

"Does this excite you? Think about it! Does it not stagger the
imagination? No builder on earth can concieve any structure to
compare to the mansions above. Won't that be something when you go
to live in your own mansion? There'll be no concern about paying for it
it's already taken care of. There'll be no worry about veing moved out
of it. It will be yours forever."

[Shaggy 2 Dope]
I got shot ah!, the murder was heinous
The bullet went in my eyeball and out my ****
And I was hit, that was it, on the spot
Flash, I woke up in a parking lot
And I'm sittin in a '64 Reinkeys
With Shaggy Dope written on the car keys
I look around I can't believe that it's possible
I'm dead, and I made it to the carnival
I walk in, it's everything I dreamed of
Everybody and they momma got clown luv
Japanese, Lebanese, and Chinese,
Portuguese, and southwest ghetto g's. (woowoo)
Hangin' out with redneck truck drivers
Instead of always givin' each other piledrivers
I see my old homey, he died in a drag
Chillin with two b****s, "What up, Shaggs?"
And he passed me a blunt like a tree trunk
I tried to hit it, but couldn't even f*** with it
And to think, I always been afraid to die
But I ain't never goin back to wonder why.

[Chorus (2x)]
We all gonna die, but I'm not gonna fry
Even though most never try
I'm not gonna let this pass me bye, no

[Violent J]
I was born, first, they threw me in a s**t pile
I dealt with it, and lived there for a while
I got dissed on, ****ed on, and beat down
Mutilated, and tossed out a dead clown
Next thing ya know, I'm chillin' at the big top
Free money, and mad b*****s non-stop
No water, it's Faygo on tap
I wash my hair, and my face, and my butt-c***k with it
Cuz I can, cuz I'm phat paid
I got a five story funhouse with a maid
And she walks around with her ****** hanging out
And when I cough, she come and dust my b****s off (woowoo)
I'm headed up to the show, I'm gonna see
Jimi Hendrix, Selena, and Eazy E
Elvis tried to open up but got dissed off
We got ****ed off, because he sounded like butt
There's no fights, it's a perfect match
Hillbillies in the crowd tryin' to cabbage patch
And to think, I've always been afraid to die
But I ain't never goin back to wonder why.

[Chorus (2x)]

[Violent J]
Did ya ever burn your finger on somethin? hey
Well picture this, your n**s burnin that way
And a roman candle stickin' in your b**thole
That's where the greedy harlot motherf***ers go

[Shaggy 2 Dope]
This is all hell now, we livin' in it
But this bulls**t'll be over in a minute
Then it's off to the Faygos and neden h**s
New clothes, and patent leather for your toes (woo-woo)

[Violent J]
And while you sit around cryin' for your dead friend
He's chillin' up there, paid, getting mad ends
He's probably there tryin to figure out why you're sad
He's on the beach gettin' fat, you got it bad

[Shaggy 2 Dope]
And for those who ain't down for the next man
Who rob from the poor, and snatch all ya can
And any chicken talkin' s**t, lemme tell ya something
Hold a lighter to your b***s, and you'll see what's coming

[Chorus (2x)]

"Does this excite you? Think about it! Does it not stagger the
imagination? No builder on earth can concieve any structure to compare
to the mansions above. Won't that be something when you go to live
in your own mansion? There'll be no concern about paying for it,
it's already taken care of. There'll be no worry about veing moved out
of it. It will be yours forever."

[Chorus (10x)]

Out of any religious song I have ever heard (and make no mistake, this is a religious song), this one has probably done more for me than any of them combined. See my religion icon? It used to be agnostic. It still mostly is. But this song is the song that gave me that little bump over into deism. I don't know why, but this song gave me a feeling of maybe, just maybe, there is a higher power of some sort. And maybe there's something beyond this life.

I cried the first time I heard this song. I had just lost my best friend, and one particular verse choked me up... I had to pull over (was driving at the time).

"And while you sit around cryin' for your dead friend
He's chillin' up there, paid, getting mad ends
He's probably there tryin to figure out why you're sad
He's on the beach gettin' fat, you got it bad"

My eyes still get hot listening to that verse....

What are your guys opinions behind ICP and/or the situation i'm in?
Hey,
I am a very strong Christian. I'm not gonna say that I'm 100% sure ICP is Christian. But I'm leaning towards that they are. Like, On some of the Dark Lotus songs when they talk backwards and stuff. I reversed one once and it was saying " God Bless all the Juggalos," and stuff like that. Some of their music makes me feel depressed, but its real life stuff they rap about. But some of their songs make me feel good too. Espeacially "The Wraith." I'm not sure about Twizted, they don't wear hatchet rydas, they wear cross necklaces. And there album "The Green Book." If you think about it most Bibles are green. If you know Esham, it's like he was evil at first, but then he came out with the album Repentance, so he repents from all his sins. I wish I could meet them all and ask them if they are Christian. I think that they are all playing parts (like a play,) I think all Psychopathic Rydas are playing parts, to tell you a story. Now that Hells Pitt is out its gonna answer a lot of my questions. On an ICP seminar Violent J. has a poster of "The Wraith," and a poster of "Hells Pitt." And he pointed to the Wraith and said, " I wanna see all you Juggalo's here." Then said "I don't wanna see any of you here," pointing to hell. I think they're trying to explain Shangrila, (Heaven) and hell.
And I know ICP stopped being friends with this rapper named "Mars." Because he worships the devil. It make since in a way. Because, for example the devil trys to get to the Christians through music on the radio. And Christians need to get to the bad people. You can't just make some one listen to Christian music, they would'nt want to. So if I'm right ICP is attracting lots of people with problems and slowly helping them see the light. But they even said not all the Juggalo's are gonna understand this, i"t's only for a select few." Sorry I typed a lot. God Bless you.
-Tara-
p.s. If your Girlfriend is Christian, she shouldn't judge you. But she probably just cares about you, and wants to see you in heaven. Beacause you never can be 100% sure there are a lot of people who are gonna try and trick you. I pray ICP isn't one of them.

I am an ICP fan but I am a bigger Eminem fan...I used to like ICP a lot more before they started hating on Eminem. So now I listen to Eminem most of the time and ICP rarely. But they are both aight artists. I have most of ICP's albums and I think it is ok to listen to them as long as it doesn't make you do something stupid. ICP's music is just trying to entertain people and get a laugh while being daring. Eminem's lyrics are more serious, and reflect what he's been through in his life. So they both have their good characteristics. I've been to both ICP and Eminem concerts and both have been very good even though we didn't get great seats. ICP even thanks God in their album book if you look in the little things that come with the CD case. So they could be Christians secretly, just not expressing it in their music. Just my opinions.
