"He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."
    Revelation 21:7

How do you guys and gals define all things here?

I see support for universal salvation in this one but it might be my bias speaking. ;)
    Am I wrong?

Because, how could God say that one inherits all things, while taking away for example even just one of his childhood classmates or a distant cousin?

I'm curious to see what you all think (we) the overcomers will inherit. :)

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

I think we discussed this earlier. Revelation 21:7 is in reference to the Saints while Revelation 21:8 is in reference to the unrepentant wicked that receive the second death in the lake of fire after the second coming these are the context here...

Revelation 21:7-8 [7], He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.[8], But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

The overcomers are the Saints tha do so by the blood of the lamb which is a reference to the Saints accepting the free gift of Christs sacrifice for their sins by faith...

Revelation 12:11 [11], And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death.

You may want to do a word search on "inherit and inheritance" in the scriptures. It will show you that only the Saints inherit Gods kingdom and the unrepentant do not inherit God's kingdom e.g...

Galatians 5:19-21 [19], Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these : fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20], idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, [21], envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

So in summary Revelation 21:7-8 in context and topical application is to the Saints (overcomers) and the unrepentant wicked who do not inherit God's Kingdom but end up in the lake of fire v8 (see also Galatians 5:19-21). Universalism is a false teaching that has its origin from the first lie told to Eve in the garden of Eden *Genesis 3:1-5

    Hope this helps...

Assuming I'm saved, which I believe I am, I already have the Kingdom of God. It is within me.

Here specifically God says "all things". Maybe the Kingdom of God is (to be) all things though, that would make sense.

All things are God's. He is everything. He is our inheritance.

All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. All of them belong to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. 1 Corinthians 3:22-23

2 Peter 1:3. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

    Galatians 5
    :
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I could think of a lot of people from my past that I would not want to inherit.:)

The Greek word "panta" translated "all things" is neuter gender. It refers to "things, objects" etc NOT people. To refer to people it would be "pasa" as in Matthew 2:3.

That also goes for the word "alles" in German, that it's gender neuter. Still means everything (not just neuter things).

The grammar rules for Greek are not the same as German or English.

I think I see what you mean.

I think Baby Tiger has a couple of good points.

Here, by the way, Paul includes himself, after saying we have all "things".

We have God, we have one another as Jesus family love people, and in us we have all which the Holy Spirit shares with us.
