  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes its graphic. I hated the movie. I thought it was well done, good acting, realistic accents (unlike a certain movie with Tom Cruise) but I really, really hated how it didn't differentiate between the Germans and the Nazis. In the movie everyone is referred to as a Nazi, they should all be killed etc etc. The Nazis were the political party ruling Germany at the time, a political party like the Liberals or Conservatives in Canada but in the movie the basterds are just killing everyone, brutally. I especially hated the Americans in the movie, the "inglorious basterds". They fought without honor, without any moral code or principles whatsoever and in doing so completely lost their moral highground. As mentioned above, the baseball bat scene. The soldier beaten to death wasn't even a Nazi, he was just German military, protecting the lives of the troops under him. Anyways, this movie made me extremely angry. I wouldn't watch it a second time.
