I would be interested to know if guys who are INFJ's have uncles and parents / grandparents and other family memebrs who are INFJ. (IE is this personality maybe a genetic thing.) ?
I know an Aunt on my Dad's side is INFJ, and I could be WAY off the mark, but I think it may also be the "type" of my Dad. If I were to place my Mom, it would probably be ISFJ. And as for my brothers, one is INTJ and the other is ISTP. I think if I do inherit it, it came from my Dad's side of the family.
I have heard it said that probably all the prophets of Israel were INFJ. (Could this be true?)
I doubt it. There is definitely cause to assume as such with some of them, namely Nathan, Isaiah and Jeremiah. But not Elijah or Elisha. The prophetic persona definitely does fit in with the intuitive ("N") side, but some of the prophets were more Thinker types and more outspoken than what you would commonly find among INFJs.
INFJs are definitely poetic and intense, and we rely very heavily on metaphor, which is common among the prophets, but we are not the only type that does this. Most NFs are poetic, and because the ministry is a common calling for NFs, I would assume that "prophecy" would have similar inclinations (which is both written AND spoken). And in some ways, some of the prophets (like Elijah, Jonah, Micaiah/Micah, etc.) are way more blunt and to-the-point than most of us are, and more resemble a few INTJ friends of mine than INFJ.
And while I would agree with what someone already said about how most of the regular posters in here are INFJ, which might almost indicate a more extraverted trait, I have two things to say to that. First, consider the medium: writing comes much easier for the INFJ. If we were in a room and talking in person, it may not be this way.
And second, the "outgoing" side of the INFJ has to do with something called "function". The primary function is introverted intuition - the thinking of ideas in the head. The second is feeling mirrored to the primary, so extraverted feeling - looking out for people around, and interacting with those around.
