  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In other words, you have no idea and are just repeating what your pastor told you....
The Bible talks quite a bit about Angels. So there is a lot to be learned there.

The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare. . . . .

I just opened the newest issue of Smithonian magazine (October 2015) and there, on page 14, we have a description of the creation of the library of all possible books. It seems that a fellow named Jonathan Basile decided he wanted to create a virtual copy on his computer of every possible book. Well, of course, such a book would not fit on his hard drive, so he cheated. He instead made a program that you can use to type out a phrase and the program will tell you where, in that unmade but perfectly predictable complete list of all possible books, you would find that phrase. Hmmm.

And he did scale it back so that no duplicate pages were in his simulated great set of all possible books so he's really only got a simulation of every possible page, not every possible whole book.

This very post is somewhere in the great list of all possible pages.

The Bible also talks quite a bit on stoning people to death for crimes such as boiling their kid in it's mothers milk or eating shellfish. So there's a lot to be ignored there too.

Yes if that is what you see when you look at the Bible then you do indeed have a lot to learn and a very long way to go.

When I search google every now and then a google book will pop up and what I am looking for is in that book. Only problem now is I want to find out a bit about the Kabbalah and sometimes they do not put that into a book. It is more a oral tradition that just gets taught but not written down.

It's not that hard to see - it's right there in black and white. I think it's you who needs to actually open their eyes and read it.

I note that you don't actually refute it- you can't - but just try to deflect.

The Bible can be understood by a child. Only when your an adult the stories take on a whole new meaning. Even there are stages to a persons life. As we mature and go through the various stages of life the Bible stores take on new meanings for us. The Hebrews believed that you had to be at least 40 years old to understand the Kabbalah. So there are layers of understanding. Only for some people they never seem interested in going beyond the most simple and superficial understanding of the Bible. They have no desire to go any further.

I am not sure what you want me to refute. Do you want me to explain to you the difference between living under the law and living under grace? Do you want me to tell you the story of the women caught in Adultery. The wages of Sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life though Christ Jesus. God is offering a free gift of eternal life and all we have to do is receive it. But if we reject what He has paid a very high price for, then there remains no other way.

With God we have a solution for every problem and an answer for every question.

So you believe that if someone actually cooked a baby in the child's mother's milk they would not deserve to be stoned if it was a human child? We should let such evil people live to continue their evil?

Yes - it indeed talks about boiling a kid in it's mothers milk. It's only too bad you have not a clue as to the subject of that verse - but merely repeat what you heard (incorrectly) once. As do all those that claim to know what the Bible says and then reject it before they understand anything.

http://biblehub.com/deuteronomy/14-21.htm

"Do not eat anything you find already dead. You may give it to the foreigner residing in any of your towns, and they may eat it, or you may sell it to any other foreigner. But you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk."

Or as the King James put it and you failed to understand it or chose to deliberately misinterpret it: "Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk."

At least get fact right if you are going to make claims please. Baseless claims only show your lack of understanding.

Who said anything about a baby? I said kid. A kid is the name of a young goat. Before you start off on a rant you should actually read what I wrote. I never once said baby - but your attempt to twist it did not work.

Honestly the level of deliberate deception on this site is astounding.

In other words you need to twist the words to mean something entirely different from what is actually written?. Sounds like a bait and switch scam to me. But then all religions do that when human progress outstrips their holy books.

And the adultery story was apparently a popular meme of the time that was incorporated into John at a much later date because it sounded good. Interesting don't you think.

What a wonderful sentiment.

If you are people holy to the LORD your God, you should know not to eat roadkill. But, on the other hand, it's OK for people holy to the LORD to sell roadkill to foreigners.

Just another example from Justatruthseeker on the virtues of scripture.

This is what you said: "on stoning people to death for crimes such as boiling their kid in it's mothers milk" So back up your claims - show me where they were stoned to death for this huge crime you claim was committed?

Or were you just stretching things a bit and adding your own version into it so it sounded better?

Kid = baby goat. If you have difficulty with English or it's not your first language then I forgive you.

I suppose you'll dispute it's one of the more legitimate lists of 10 commandments too? Edit- when I say legitimate I mean a better case could be made for putting it in a "10 commandments" list

And those foreigners also may if they choose - refuse to eat roadkill. If they choose to purchase meat they know is roadkill, that is their own decision. Always the evolutionist stance - blame your actions on another.

Try the false claim of insinuating that a man that can perfect a theorem for finding the page in any book - somehow equates to being equal to the claim that it can occur randomly by a monkey - when it took conscious willful and deliberate intelligence to bring it about.

Oh sorry - that one has already been tried.

So where is the crime deserving of stoning you say came about? Don't try to misdirect - answer the question.

Amazing to think this knotty issue made it into divine commands while others issues like, oh, don't keep another person as property, didn't.

But its a good try to avoid the entire topic under discussion - I'm still waiting for any proof that a monkey can type the entire volume of Shakespeare randomly? I say prove it - get some monkeys and get them to typing.

Property that was treated with respect - like family. Property laws were enacted to protect their rights - while godless society was enslaving mankind one after another. Treating them like those of a lesser species - like people deserving of extermination in camps. How easy you forget everyone had property - some just passed laws protecting those in that position - unlike every other peoples that existed at the time up until just a mere 200 years ago in fact. The only ones to ever enact laws to protect those in indentured servitude. So you are still no better off then when you started - even worse.

So for God to set up a universe in which evolution would produce the varieties of life is, itself, an intelligent creative act.

Got it.
