There is one person that came in here with a non-SDA icon, and then all of a sudden changed his icon to an SDA one. That really isn't so much of a problem in itself; but he has been trying to stir up trouble in here among us.

And now he wants to participate in the wiki.

I think we need to make a rule that only those that we all know to be SDAs should be able to participate in this process. The rule that a person only needs to have 100 posts and consider himself to be an SDA makes it too easy for people to pretend to be something that they aren't.

Many of us have been here long enough to know who the regulars are, and we need to protect our forum from infiltrators.

Just one question: How do you suggest doing this?

Doc

It's simple. There are some of us that have been here long enough to know who the regulars are.

When people like sentipente come in here with a non-SDA icon, then try to stir up trouble among us by insulting us, and then change their icon to an SDA one. And then desire to partcipate in making up the rules for the wiki, this does raise some suspician.

No. I am speaking of sentipente
may be we need to just ask him what is beliefs are and why he changed them. what was up with the Icon? Don't assume evil motive unless you have evidence. You are right to raise the question. that is a red flag.

And now he wants to participate in the wiki.
In a later post you told Ice you were referring to me. Where to you get the idea from that I have any desire to participate in your Wiki vote? I have much better things to do. I don't think anyone has been able to successfully herd cats.

Doc, when we vote in the wiki, we have to post our vote for everyone to see.

So, if it's someone we don't recognize from BEFORE the rule-making process, they aren't allowed to vote.

Would that work?
I think this is sensible. :)

If someone wasn't around before how would they really understand what is needed, anyway? That's like someone voting for a new leader of their country the day they set foot in it, without prior knowledge. ;)

Blessings and Love,
Sarah

Did we learn anything from the parable of the workers in the vineyard and how those who came at the eleventh hour got the same privileges as those who were there from the beginning? What is the value of the Bible is we can't apply its teachings and precepts?

That parable is a good one, but isn't quite right for this exact situation, in my eyes. Those workers were being hired to do something they already understood, not play a part in dictation of rather important rules that will shape this whole board.

How will a newcomer fully understand the impact if they do not know the way things were prior? They often have a limited view at that point. It's nothing against them, and I doubt we'd 'ignore' someone if they posted a sound opinion.

Also, I'm not pointing this directly at you, either. :)

I agree. We all know each other pretty well and I think there's even some people on here we'd recognize without 100 posts.

But someone coming in all of a sudden at rule-making time seems a little odd to me.
i think that is a good standard. 100 post

Sentipente, this may feel like an attack, but it's not.

You earned your penny, and I respect that.

However, some of us have been here a long time and we are aware of all the problems this forum faces.

If it were me, I wouldn't want to participate in making rules when I really don't know what a forum is thirsty for.
Exactly! Even I'm being cautious because I've only been here since March and am aware that many who have been here longer have a better understanding than I do. :)

It's a big world. I don't go around looking for rules. I look for people to interact with. If I happen to fall into a den of thieves, that's what I call people who are narrowminded, I simply find the nearest exit. When I came here I did not know you were making rules. Every forum I have joined has had rules in place before I joined. If I like the atmosphere I stay. If I don't like the atmosphere I leave. I am beginning to suspect that there is a big payout coming for those who participate in this process and y'all are trying to keep as much of the pie to yourselves as you can.

You bet there's a payout...PEACE and Biblical principles.

And honestly, this whole process has brought a lot of us closer together. I'm friends with Progressives that I wasn't friends with before.

But I've also seen some shiftiness and downright unChristian behavior in the wiki and I was embarrassed.

I'm sorry, but we have to set this up in a way that the regulars can live with.

You came at a bad time I guess, but slamming us for how we're doing it isn't helping the matter at all. I'm actually seeing some harmony for the first time in a LONG time and I won't apologize for it.
