  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

well it doesnt look as if im going to be able to do this on my own...she just doesnt want to come out:sigh: so Friday my doctor is going to induce me, which is fine with me, im so ready for this to be over with. i figure that he'll put me on the drip (is there any other way to induce), but isnt the drip Pitocin, and doesnt that make labor more uncomfortable and painful? im going to have an epidural, but id like to hold out on getting it for as long as i can...so i guess my questions is...how will he go about inducing me?

Yea they will put you on a petocin (sp?) IV. My first was suppose to be induced, but she decided to come on her own. Then with my second my water broke 2 weeks early and then she changed her mind, so I ended up on the old petocin. I will admit it's not the most pleasant, but it works and you can get through it. The only drug I had was the petocin no epidural. Just takes remembering do do your breathing and if you are allowed to get up and walk from time to time. I wasn't because of my daughters heart rate. But also plan on having your husband be ready for lower back massages.

Just go in relaxed and ready and it will be over in no time. ;)

Good luck and my prayers will be with you and the baby.

How far along are you?

i'll be 41 weeks friday...my doctor wont let me go past that because my fluid has been going up and down, and i dont think he typically lets his patients go to 42 weeks...he did assure me 2 weeks ago when i was in the hospital that if something shouldve happened then and if he had to take her that she would be fine and wouldnt be premature.

Praying that you'll go into labor tonight or tomorrow to avoid an induction. You're still on the early side for first time pregnancies so I would be a little leery of inducing just yet but understand your concern over levels. If you are induced I pray that you avoid the potential complications and come out with a healthy baby and mama!

Praying for you, normally they don't induce until 42 weeks but you have a medical conditon don't you?

Hopefully it won't be much more painful than normal *but* don't wait too long to get it, otherwise you could be numb as a post come time to push and could hurt your bladder muscles and or have more trouble getting the baby out.

Praying for you.

All three of mine were done with Pitocin. My body just didn't know how to get the kids out when the time came. Anyhow, I don't know if the pain was any worse than without but it is doable without too much of a problem. You also have the time to chill while the drip is taking effect and prepare yourself. You'll do fine. I would ask the doctor when the latest you could get the epidural. I was uncertain with my first and by the time I decided i wanted one it was too late.

You'll do great tomarrow.

I will be pray that you will go into labor today or tonight so that you don't have to be induced. I also hope and pray that if you are induced things will go smoother for you than they did for me and that you will have an easy delivery.

God Bless and you are in my prayers.

Well sometimes I've heard you can get things going... by having sex... have you tried that?

yes, and it hasn't helped at all...my mom always had a hard time going into labor, she had to be induced twice...lucky for her it only took her 4 and 3 hours to deliver. ive been having a few pains today, im really hoping that they progress and become regular and that i do go into labor on my own, but if not im ok with it.

I was induced due to some medical problems....they gave me something to soften my cervix so my water would break, then when it did, they started me on pitocin. NOT fun and boy was I glad to see the anesthesiologist!!! :sorry: But it made the labor & delivery quick...from the time they started the IV, it was only 8 hours until Andie was born....and that was mostly labor, I only pushed for less than an hour!

I was induced with Cytotec also. I wanted to avoid Pit if at all possible due to the extra strong contractions it causes. It took 3 doses to get my labor going (1 dose = 1/4 pill, dosing schedule was every 4 hours), so the down side to that was being really tired by the time labor actually kicked in! But since I didn't use Pit, I was able to go without an epidural, which was my desire.

May God bless your childbirth experience, no matter how it starts!
