Hello all,
I feel that this post debates many issues that are dear to our heart and impact our lives in many ways.

While these debates are great, I have another idea. Let's also talk about subjects that we could care less about and have no significant effect on our life whatsoever.

Here are some ideas:

Straight straws vs. flexible straws

Target or Wal-Mart: What is the moral option?

What about No. 1? The pencil minority, and why it is not accepted in public schools.

Is "passing gas" a civil liberty?

Is sad astronaut insane, or a misunderstood genius?

Discuss.

Well, flexi straws are nice because you can bend them to fit your mouth without needing to adjust your glass. Still, the twisty straws in interesting shapes are far superior, and much more exciting. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong on that!

Target is better because Wal-Mart has the worst record of maltreatment of employees. Plus, that family is way too rich.

Do you consider lawn mowing to be a good idea, or should you just let the grass grow as it pleases?

Not to mention Wal-Mart's almost religio-fascist way of deciding what materials responsible adults may purchase for themselves.

I think the bendy straws are the best, especially if you have a stiff neck!

I am not entitled to an opinion on the Target/Walmart issue because they closed down all the Targets in my area years ago, I don't have a true basis for comparison (but Walmart has theworst book selection of any store I've ever been in, and I include HEB and Kroger in that list! :sigh: )

I feel horrible for the No. 1 pencils, they are treated as second class citizens and shunned in public schools, it's just a shame.

Yes, passing gas is a civil liberty and I shall defend it to my last breath (even if I have to hold that breath for a while before saying it! )

I think cutting the lawn is a personal choice, and no one should condemn another for the exercise of their choice to cut or not cut. It is freedom that is the issue, not lawn care! :D

Straight straws vs. flexible straws

Rarely use straws.

Target or Wal-Mart: What is the moral option?

Target, because there is one 1/2 mile from my house.

What about No. 1? The pencil minority, and why it is not accepted in public schools.

Because it's too light. I accidently bought a box of them and ended up throwing them out.

Is "passing gas" a civil liberty?

It's only a civil liberty if you are the only one in the room. :)

Even though Dyrwen makes a good point about straight straws being easier to get out of the wrapper, my vote is for the flexi straw.

I generally think that Target is a much nicer place to shop than Wal-Mart. Even though Target doesn't have quite the variety with respect to merchandise that Wal-Mart has, it is generally a better place to shop. Having worked for both companies, I can say without reservation that Target is by far a better place to work.

No. 1 pencils are decidedly inferior.

Passing gas is a precious civil liberty. But one should be considerate of others in the immediate area before exercising this particular liberty.

>>>straight straws vs. flexible straws

straight straws are classier, so they are better for restaurants. flexible straws are more practical, i would use them at home.

i do know some wal-mart treats their employees badly. there was a scandal in kansas about how managers would make employees work off the clock to keep down labor costs. penny-pinching goes to0 far sometimes.

i prefer mechanical pencils as well.

i wouldn't call passing gas a civil liberty, per se, but more of an unalienable right. but with great freedom comes great responsibility. just do it around the ones you love.

"why is someone sad labeled insane? that's pretty ignorant."
i'm not really sad :) but i am an astronaut.

okay, i lied. i'm not really an astronaut. why am i "sad astronaut"? only my limo driver and my personal chef knows.

I hate mowing, but i guess it has to be done. fortunatley, i will be in an apartment for the next 2 years, so it is not an issue yet.
