Peace in Christ.
In Beginning =in Jesus.... who is the Beginning of the creation of God.
(Gen 1:1)
In beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
There is no definite article “the” in Hebrew before “beginning”.
The “Beginning” referred to in Genesis 1:1 is Jesus the Son of God as ALL things in the heavens and the earth were created by God THROUGH (Greek: “dia”) Him and for Him.
Col 1:15-19
(15) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
(16) For THROUGH him (in “Beginning” in Genesis 1:1) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created THROUGH him, and for him:
(17) And he is before all things, and THROUGH him all things consist.
(18) And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
(19) For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
All things (from A to Z…from Aleph to Tav…from Alpha to Omega) were made THROUGH Him:
John 1:3
(3) All things were made THROUGH him; and without him was not anything made that was made.
Again, Jesus is the “Beginning” of the creation of God in Genesis 1:1.
Rev 3:14 KJV
(14) And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
In Beginning (that is, Jesus) was the Word (“Logos” which means “word, saying, message”).
The Word or Saying was “toward” God…that is, regarding God. The message or saying regards God.
“In Beginning” in John 1:1 does not have the definite article “the” in Greek:
John 1:1
In ( no article… “the”… in Greek) beginning was the Word, and the Word was with (“with”= Greek “pros” which means “to, toward”) God, and the Word was God.
The Saying from “Beginning” (Jesus is the Beginning) is that God IS Light.
There is also no definite article "the" in 1 John 1:1 before “beginning”.
1John 1:1
That which was from (no definite article here) beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
This is the message which we have heard of Him (the Beginning) and is declared unto us that “God is light”. This is the Word or Saying of life.
1Jn 1:5-6 KJV
(5) This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
(6) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
We find the Saying of life in Genesis 1:3 “Let there be light”.
Gen 1:3
(3) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
It should be translated:
And God said, “He IS Light”.
The Hebrew word “hayah” means “to be, to exist, to become”. In this context, it is saying that God IS light. He did not become light but IS light.
This is the message that Beginning (Jesus) says from the very start in Genesis.
“and there was light”. We respond to the Light with light. We are to walk in the light as He is in the light.
1Jn 1:7 KJV
(7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
We are to be children of light by believing in the light…in the knowledge of God…when we hear it.
Joh 12:36 KJV
(36) While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
The message (God is Light) needed to be said to man as the earth had BECOME without form and void….that is, mankind had become without the form of God’s righteousness and void of His knowledge.
Gen 1:2
(2) And the earth BECAME without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
“without form”= without the form of righteousness.
“Void” = no knowledge/ no understanding. The earth became without form and void as His people have no knowledge to do good.
Jer 4:22-23 KJV
(22) For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
(23) I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light..
“Darkness” was upon the face of the deep….upon the heart of mankind all together.
God had created the world and man can clearly see the things that are made the invisible things of God…His eternal power and divine nature.
But man BECAME vain in his reasonings and man’s foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:20-22 KJV
(20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
(21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
(22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Man can clearly see with his own eyes the invisible things of God in the majesty of the created things that reflect those invisible attributes but man became without form and void of His knowledge.
Now, mankind needs to HEAR the knowledge of God even though he can SEE those things but chooses to become vain in his own thoughts
