And you whine on about this magical flood that wasn't a flood.
What atheists call "magic", creationists call "chemistry."

You see, when hydrogen from outerspace mixes with oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere it makes this stuff called "water."

Mr. Poe, if you were alive in Augustus's day would you have prosecuted Anaxilaus of Larissa for the crime of magic or would it be for the crime of superior natural philosophy?

Anaxilaus of Larissa, physician and Pythagorean philosopher (fl. 28 B.C.)

Anaxilaus of Larissa, a physician and Pythagorean philosopher, was banished from Rome by Augustus, B.C. 28, on the charge of practicing the magic art. This accusation appears to have originated in his superior skill in natural philosophy, by which he produced effects the ignorant attributed to magic. (Euseb., Chron. ad Olymp. clxxxviii; St Iren. i. 13; Plin. xix. 4, xxviii. 49, xxxii. 52, xxxv. 50.)
See my point?

Noah was a crackpot building a boat in his backyard; why listen to him?
That's probably what everyone else said.

And it was an ark; the Titanic was a boat.

Even you AV1611VET must see your arguments as just straw clutching, if you start with rubbish and try to defend rubbish all you are left with is even more rubbish, but hey, if you want to fill your life with rubbish, it's your life.
You can call it 'rubbish' if you want; but if someone asks me why God didn't just annihilate people in a moment of time, they should be prepared to get a good answer.

I know your answer, and god failed. No one save Noah's family lived, and no evidence remains of alleged disaster. Indeed your god comes across as impotent and incompetent.

There is evidence for the flood being local to Mesopotamia, i did already paste a paper back here a while ago which shows the identified flood strata and other geologic evidence dating to 2900 BC.

The Bible does not teach the flood was global because if you read Deuteronomy it describes antideluvian tribes who were not of Noah's family but who had descendants who survived after the flood. Young Earth Creationists who believe in a global flood and only Noah's family survived have never answered this, even Creationwiki admits openly its a problem.

"For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth." -Genesis 7:4

So are you picking and choosing what to believe again? No scientist disputes that local floods happened around early civilizations... why? Because they were all built around rivers that flooded!

How come atheists don't believe in natural phenomenon like floods?

Is there some kind of an atheist war on science or something?

No, our explanation for most cultures of ancient middle-east having flood stories is that local flooding, which is common, caused most of them.

How come creationists like yourself wage a war on science by quote mining the respectable ones in their signature in an attempt to make their tired position credible?

The word translated earth in Hebrew is erets, it means 'country' or a local area, not the entire globe.

For example, the word is used concerning Abraham -

"Get out of thy country [erets]...unto a land [erets] that I will shew thee" (Gen. 12:1).

Of course though we know God did not mean for Abraham to leave the globe and to go another planet...

The Bible never taught the flood was global, and only a minority of YEC's believe it does.

Thanks for all those links, i'm going to save this posts and go through them. The Mallowan link i already know, as he found the geologic evidence of the flood strata, dated 2900 BC.

How come creationists don't believe in reading comprehension and/or honesty?

Global flood -- natural?

Not a global flood, however apparently millions of years ago there was a global sheet of ice over the Earth, its called Snowball Earth hypothesis.

Well global flood in my opinion damages faith... there are also moral implications.

Everyone on earth came from just 8 people onboard and ark?

That means they must have practiced incest. Yet, this is condemned throughout the Bible - its not moral, its disgusting. Oddly there are so many YEC's on this forum who go around calling atheists etc immoral, when they themselves believe in incest...

IMO, the Bible damages faith.

Incest being the Least Problematic.

Perhaps you should read a bit more into the scientific hypotheses before using them in your arguments.

Snowball earth implies a period where the global surface temperature was below freezing, and the oceans were covered in ice or slush. It involves no unnatural deluge of water to free over the whole earth.

it is quite odd and its implications for a global flood are rather bizarre. I agree with you that the bible does not speak of a global flood, but i think most yec believe it is a global flood.
