It's a human trait. It exists in greater or lesser degree from person to person.

Thank god I don’t accept anything AV says.

But it's Only so fantastical BECAUSE it's mythical. The same could be said of the revolutionary war. Give it 2000 years and our descendants will be telling the story of George Washington lending an army of 300 fighting alone against an invading army of two millon British.

Nah. it would be how the ptomac opened for them then closed on the brits.

Too bad for whom? we get a special blessing for not seeing evidence, yet believing.

John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Jesus said that shortly after having his disciples touch him to make sure he's real. He sure didn't have a problem showing them evidence among with the "many other signs" mentioned in John 20:30, either.

So, God sure didn't have a problem showing evidence to people of his existence. Only now, a couple thousand years after all this supposedly took place can we not find one shred of evidence that any of that occurred as told in the Bible.

What could you find one year after these events, that you couldn't find 2000 years later?

I'm not interested in evidence from back then. I'm interested in evidence now. If he did it for them without issue or protest, he can do it now. And no need to bring in internet theologian interpretations and addenda such as dispensationalism.

If you think He's going to come back here and jump through hoops just for you, you'd better think again.

What do you want? you want Him to come back and die on a cross again; just to show you He can do it? would another resurrection do, with you being the first one to see the empty tomb (as if that would convince you)?

Do you think He should have left something behind?

God isn't as messy as you guys would like to portray Him.

"Leave no trace" is great for camping but not so great when you're expecting people to believe something or otherwise face eternal suffering.

And Thomas got to touch the holes. Shouldn't we all be able to, then? I'm citing precedent.

A bit extreme, but something like would do. (Although we'd have to hook him up to some medical equipment to make sure he was really dead. You know, and to make sure he legitimately came back to life.

Some other demonstrations of supernatural powers like verifiable miracles would also be nice. Then maybe some clear and unambiguous instructions, you know, since so much of the bible conflicts with itself.

Do you think He should have left something behind?

God isn't as messy as you guys would like to portray Him.

1 Nietzsche 3:15 - A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

The Great Commission at work here, I see. Good to know that you believe that God can't be bothered to try to save my soul as it might inconvenience him.

Leave who no trace? He left behind a detailed Record of what He did.

No -- the next ones in line are the Jews, who will go through horrible persecution at the hands of earth's greatest scientist.

Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

For someone to just ask (or demand) to see Him, then expect Him to show up, is presumption of the highest order.

If it's such a good, detailed record there would be only one religion. As it stands there are some 38,000 different denominations that all believe slightly different things. Sounds pretty ambiguous to me.

Then you don't know the power of confusion and mimicry.

The story is told of a man who caught a Leprechaun and forced him to reveal where the pot of gold was hidden. It was hidden deep in the woods, next to a tree. Before the man went back to get some tools to dig, he tied a yellow ribbon around the tree to identify it, and made the Leprechaun promise he wouldn't touch it. When he came back to the forest with his shovel, every tree had a yellow ribbon tied around it.

So, the moral of the story is that Satan and leprechauns are more powerful than God. Weird but OK.

If that's what you got from the story, then I'll take your moral with a grain of salt.

Is the moral that leprechauns are tricky little buggers and you can't trust 'em?
Or that you believe in leprechauns?

Actually, this is taken out of context so it is hard to see the true meaning. The full title of the original article was

"How the Yellow Ribbon Seller sent his children through college"
Whatever -- it's an excellent example of how Satan works.

If he can't get you to outright disbelieve the Bible, then he will have hundreds of his own made up.

We call that Diabolical Mimicry.

Doesn't God do a good enough job getting us to disbelieve the Bible? You know, by setting up the evidence to look like he was lying? And how we should be ashamed of ourselves for checking?

Why would He go out of His way to look like He was lying, when all He had to do is not record an event in the first place?

He could have not recorded it at all, then we would all be mistaken; but the fact of the matter is, He recorded it so some wouldn't be misled.

If Satan can compete with God, one could argue he's just as powerful. If God is so much more powerful than Satan, why is it that Satan is 1) capable of making something that can compete with God's Word and 2) allowed to by God? Especially when God knows some will be legitimately deceived by no fault of their own because it is not their fault the ribbon is on every tree now, is it?

I don't need Satan to disbelieve the bible. For even if god showed up in my face today and proved himself to be real and told me the bible was his inerrant word, I would not worship him.

The god of the bible is sadistic and evil, I'd rather chill with Satan for all eternity, as he actually had the gall to stand up to the ruthless dictator.
