There is no way to figure out the whole Bible just like there is no way we can completely know the mind of God. Even Scriptures say that we only see now as looking through a glass darkly. There will be a day when we know him, even as we are known, but not on this side of life.

I'm agreeing with you here. I believe however that we are in a time that more is being revealed of the Bibles mysteries than ever before. I also believe that some of the "contradictions" in the Bible are there for this very purpose.

But seek first the kingdom of Heaven, and everything else will be added to you.

Greetings Gimf,

You may want to consider the following:

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Now consider:

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

I have yet to find an instance in my life to which the Word does not apply. If I cannot find an answer, I begin to pray about it diligently, and consistently the Lord has opened my eyes to the appropriate scripture(s). As much as we are to know, or can know in this existence, somewhere in the Word is revealed God's Word to anyone who earnestly seeks Him.

It is a cop-out to say that we are not expected to "know", for God will reveal any answer to you for which you have a question. The only "fuzzy" area I have found is trying to understand the heavenlies (the spiritual realm). This is what Paul was talking about when he said we see as through a glass darkly. He was not referring to this earth. God does not want you to "remain in darkness".

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

I think that it is impossible to figure out every single thing in the Bible. I think that things like the foundations of the Christian faith, what is right and wrong, God's promises are clear cut. However there are those things that are not exactly important to salvation that we will only find out when we are with the Lord God. Even then we will not know everything, or else we would be like God and prove Satan's lie in the garden of Eden to be a truth.

No, I don't think so. There are certain things that remain an enigma to us. Like the Creation and how it fits with things we are finding. I am not talking about the wierd theories that have been proposed based on the things found, but the things themselves: ie the dinosaurs, fossils and a few other things. I think believing things that aren't easily explained in the Bible is an act of faith.

Do you all think that we are ment to figure the WHOLE Bible out
or are you like me
and think that there are things that we aren't ment to figure out?
YHSHWH CREATED us each unique.

In our CREATED UNIQUENESS,
I AM to learn,
from HIS HOLY SPIRIT and HIS HOLY WORD/LAW (Genesis to Revelation)
and teach others, in HIS BODY, what I know.

In our CREATED UNIQUENESS,
I AM to listen to and learn from
what others teach in their understanding
of HIS HOLY SPIRIT and HIS HOLY WORD/LAW.

In our CREATED UNIQUENESS,
YHSHWH'S PLAN is that we realize
how much we need each other
to know we are HIS BODY.

In our CREATED UNIQUENESS,
we should realize that our differences
should be our strength, in HIM,
and not our weakness.

In our CREATED UNIQUENESS,
once we submit to YHSHWH
and HIS WAYS and HIS THOUGHTS (HOLY SPIRIT and HOLY WORD/LAW)
and we submit to each other, in HIS BODY,
we will BE ONE
and we will know everything,
HE needs for us to know,
to BE HIS BODY.

LOVE, RICOEL

we asked our youth leader this question. he was telling us that God did not create us to fully understand the Bible. some things are clear cut, so we should understand them clearly. some things that are written, we cannot just understand from reading, we need the spirit to help us understand, oas our mind is not sophisticated enough to understand it. God gave us these teachings, so all could understand the basic principals, those who accept him understand most of it, but only those who truly walk witj Jesus aND HAVE THE SPIRIT AND THE GIFT OF UNDERSTANDING WILL FULLY COMPREHEND gODS TEACHINGS!

it is impossible for us to know the mind of God
1 Corinthians 2:16 says: "But we have the mind of Christ".

What is the whole of 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 about unless it's saying that we DO understand the deep things of God? The Holy Spirit searches the deep things of God, and we have the Spirit, and therefore know these things (verses 10 and 12).

The only reason we don't understand things in the Bible is because of our sinfulness, in that we don't want to understand them. Verse 14 is a warning to us.

Pete.

The beautiful part of the mystery of the Bible in my mind is that every time I read a passage, I can find something new--if we could ever understand all of it, that wouldn't happen forever, but as it is, thank God, it's always a new Book!

The Bible was written for man, not for God or his angels. It is there for man to know and understand. To know the Bible doesn't mean that we will understand all the glories of God but only that which God allows us to know. All that which God will allow us to know is in the Bible.

Exactly starry emzy! there is no poinjt to it. God inspired men to write the Bible about things we will understand.

Anyone who injects the questions of fully understanding God is derailing the original question and that was "Do you all think that we are ment to figure the WHOLE Bible out or are you like me and think that there are things that we aren't ment to figure out?" Nothing in that question should bring the holier than thou people to acuse anyone of anything here. The subject is the Bible...not Gods glory!

Complete and utter hogwash!

Sorry Ainesis I believe your confuseing figureing out what the Bible is saying and understanding the nature of God and his glory.

We as mear humans can never understand God to his fullest degree of glory but God gave us the Bible to understand him in our human capacity. To say that we are not meant to understand the Bible is to say that it is worthless. To say that there are parts of the Bible that are not meant for human understanding is makeing God out to be a prankster and a lier.

Understanding the Bible doesn't mean we understand his glory...it only means we understand that which he meant us to understand, that which he had written.

There are no contradictions and for you to say so shows how little of the Bible you understand

We can figure out what the Bible tells us but when the Bible is vague doesn't mean the Bible or the word of God has failed us it means that is all God feels it is necessary for us to know. If you feel that the Bible is vague on a topic like creation only means that you should look to other forms of knowledge to get the answer. It doesn't mean the Bible was written to confuse you or to through you off.

Sorry but the answer is still, and always will be that God wrote the Bible for us to understand it. Not in part, or not in fraction, but all the Bible.
