Ok, if you go see the profile of your friends, in the tab "About Me", you will find the details for each member to be categorized and display different from before...

each entry from your profile can also be edited on-the-fly, it may be even easier for you if you do not like to go in the userCP... visit your own profile, and you will see a little pen beside each profile details.. you double-click each detail to edit them...

in the next hours i will try to remedy the problems related to gender, icons etc... this is easy to fix but take time because i only have one keyboard and two hands... so please be patient.

What I don't like is that I've been a member here for almost 3 years and my standards of privacy on the internet have changed of those three years. I do not like the idea of anyone being able to search my posts and find out the names of my children or others significant to my life or the city in which I live. I've taken on a new member name as a result

I agree with this and ive been stalked and harrassed badly on this forum before. Nothing was ever done about it besides me being told to ignore them. I left for almost 6 months because of it so they could find themselves a new target. After that when I came back I changed everything to hide my posts so i couldnt be searched out on here - i had to change my email adress everything - if this is not reconsidered - i see a lot of good people leaving because some of us value our privacy.

I wonder about privacy on a public messageboard. My opinion is this--if you would rather it not be generally known, don't post it. Cuz, y'know... no matter whether your posts are searchable here, Google'll still find 'em.

That's true, but then CF wouldn't be coming up in any Google searches at all.

Actually thats not accurate either - it has been coming up when the board was sheilded from personal posts being shown. We did once have the option to have certain things veiwable but not search all posts. For example blogs and home pages.

There is no privacy on the web. Don't use your real name. Don't use your children's real name. Don't post your real address, and you can even go so far as to not post the name of your city or state. Never post your home phone number. There is no reason that you have to use your children's real names, and the names of their schools, or the name of your work, your position at work, etc., on any website. It just makes no sense to do this. I have learned my lesson, and will not post anything with my real name on it ever again.

If you meet somebody on here that you're sure you can trust, talk to them via your cell phone or your payphone first, before ever giving out a home phone. A home phone can be traced to your address, whereas most wireless phones can be used with some anonimity, depending on your wireless service. The easiest way to talk to somebody though is just to use a messenger like yahoo. You can use a microphone, and your own voice. No need for phone numbers.

The problem is exactly what you indicate in your post... it would require someone to moderate these elements properly... there is already morethan 150 moderators on this forum, each is occupied with a ton of posts and threads to moderate... too much is not always better than not enough...

this is a community for sharing and communication, not a place where everybody have to control the other... so when we can avoid having to apply control over someone else, we try to... you prefer being just minimized a little in your choices, or you prefer the global control à la Big Brother?!

btw, we may be evaluating the possibility to offer personal pages hosting in the near future, so you would have a complete page editor in html and so on... THIS may be interesting for the ones in need of a real web page.

the Living Avatars replace the who characters named Dollies.. the system is on test right now, we're closer to it...

the Armory contained elements you were able to buy and give to your friends, and was related to a RPG shop... this is the thing that will be replaced by the Commerce...

i suppose i get it... someone correct me.. lol
