Is worse today in third world countries than it was during Imperialism? Many of these countries forbid Christian missionaries. What do you think?

Any particular examples? Are you implying that Imperialism is more desirable, because it involved inroads, even if forced, into more countries?

“Imperialism” was more like a historical concept to the western world. Though I admit that Imperialism had harm to the people of third world, I think much more harm was from the inner of third world. Thankfully some western missionaries could give up the dependence to Imperialism and had pure heart to love the people of third world ,even lost their precious life. Without their work, we will never hear the gospel, and never have a global insight.

Modern forbidding of missionary has nothing to do with “imperialism”, just because they hate the gospel, and they want to become new imperialism to preach their opinion to the whole world.

I've had Indians I've worked with tell me India would be better off under British rule than their current system, which they tell me is corrupt beyond belief. On the other hand Germany's Imperialist ambitions to conquer Europe started two world wars. Japan's Imperialist experiment was a human rights disaster. Also China seems to be engaging in a new form of economic empire building in Africa at the moment which is a bit scary.

I think maybe imperialism could work under the right system, but the abuse of it seems to outweigh the good of it. In terms of Christianity it's hard to deny that Imperialism has been a boon to Christianity in terms of demographics. In many African countries Christians comprise sizable majorities where just three centuries ago they barely existed. The whole of the Americas is majority Christian. Even Russian expansion into Siberia has converted the majority of Siberians to Eastern Orthodoxy. The Philippines is predominantly Christian and the majority of the pacific islands are predominantly Christian.
