  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think it would be a lot easier to discuss the issue of immigration if not only we talked about keeping illegals out (a border wall) but brought up the topic of making a doable pathway to citizenship as well. Here are my suggestions for nationalizing immigrants.

-Learn to speak English fluently
-Earn citizenship by serving in a branch of the U.S. armed forces. (4 or 8 years)
-Earn citizenship by being an organ donor.

Anyone else got any ideas?

We already allow immigrants to become citizens. One million people immigrate to the US every year.

And to you, this is enough? And by the way, I looked that up. And you're correct. But that statistic goes on to say that 600,000 of those people are already in the states and just get a status change.

I think that is a reasonable amount considering that it is more than any other country in the world.

That can be bad idea. Those who served in the armed forces are often "head hunted" by drug gangs or cartels to work for them.

Some even deliberately earn time in the armed forces for the invaluable combat experience they can acquire so they can get more lucrative (high paying) jobs in the cartels / black market / underground, etc. Literally get rich this way or die trying.

Or planted by them.

We have done this before, during the Civil War we enlisted men straight off the boat. But both sides at the time needed cannon fodder, and drug cartels were not the same relative threat to us then as they are now.

But jokes aside - it's actually not a great idea. If you make serving in the military the only way to gain citizenship, you'll only get the most desperate immigrants applying. The wealthier, better educated ones will go elsewhere.

most humans, even fascist and communist, are very concerned about jobs. jobs are one of the main reasons immigration is a threat.

USA should make new cities for immigrants, it would create a lot of jobs. new cities in alaska for instance. i'm sure there is also plenty of room on the western parts of our country as well since most live on the eastern side. ofc we would need good rich people to step up and expand their companies.

but I prefer religious ideals for problem solving in the world. there should be a very powerful spiritual bonding of people in their horrible countries and they should work together in Christ to try to make their country better.
