For those of you who don't know me, I've been on CF since 2006. I write on Daily Devotions, under Christian Growth (Christians only). Recently the Lord Jesus has had me open up and talk about my life as the spouse of a sex addict, and now he is leading me to write a book on this subject, and to place it on the internet. “I Married My Dad” is a book being written by Sue J Love (me), from the perspective of a wife of a recovering sex (lust) addict.

It is being written for the purpose to be an encouragement to others, like me and my husband, who have gone through this battle, or who are presently going through this battle of sex (lust) addiction and the affects that it has had or is presently having on individual lives, and on many marriages.

The book is in process, so each new post will be a new chapter, following my husband’s forward, which he is presently writing for this book.

It is my prayer that God will use our story to give hope and healing to the many men and women who are presently suffering the wounds of sexual addiction, either as those who are the sexually addicted, or as those who are married to those who are sexually addicted. There is hope and healing through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for he died on a cross many years ago, and he was resurrected from the dead, too, in order that you and I might die to our sins and live to his righteousness. By his stripes (his wounds) you can be healed! (1 Pet. 2:24)

You can read the book here:

What is the book? Pretty much an "Overcoming Pornography" story? Or were there other things going on?

I have been married 45 years to a man who is a sex (lust) addict, and he brought this addiction into our marriage. So, the book is written from the perspective of the wife of a recovering sex (lust) addict. The beginning 5 entries give the background, a summary of our situation and our 45 years of marriage, and from there I will be sharing journals relating to what we are going through presently, or what I am going through, in this process of him now working through these issues, our recovering and the rebuilding or the building of our marriage on a correct foundation. We have a long way to go in this, I am sure, so I am not sure how long this book is going to end up being, but it will be a work in progress which I will share as posts on this site Walking Wounded. Other than the first entry, titled I Married My Dad, the other entries will all have the name "book" in them, as other things will be posted on this site, too.

This is not just a porn issue. It is a lust issue and an abuse issue. Many, many women are suffering enormous abuse at the hands of their sex (lust) addicted spouses, and they need to know, and their husbands need to know that there is hope, and there is healing for those who will yield their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ, and who will let him heal their wounds and deliver them from their addictions.

Good idea for a book. :)

I only gave it a cursory check at the website. On the brief read I couldn't tell if the addiction manifested itself by him being a selfish lover with a porn addiction - or if there were other extra-curricular activities (affairs) involved.

That isn't the whole book. That was just the introduction to the book.

It is being written one chapter at a time. The next installment was my husband writing a forward to the book, titled "Book Forward," and that will tell you more, and with each chapter, you will learn more of what our situation has been and still is.

I have developed a table of contents for the book which you can find here: https://walkingwounded.blog/i-married-my-dad/. You can click on a chapter title and it will take you to that chapter where you can read it. This makes for easy navigating of the chapters. I hope some of you will read it, for it has helpful information in it for those struggling with either sexual addiction or sexual abuse or spouse abuse. It is a message of hope, healing, restoration, forgiveness, deliverance and survival.

Everything I write, that the Lord has me write, is in the public domain. You can find it all here: Run With It. Feel free to use any of it if you feel will be beneficial for your ministry. I would just ask that you please reference the source, which is God, in reality.

Thank you for having the courage to share your story. I just read the first couple chapters, and I think it is very brave of you to open up about these issues in the hope of helping others who are going through similar circumstances.

Thank you! The courage did not come from me, I guarantee you. It came from the Lord, who is the one who directed me to write that. And, yes, it was indeed written in the hope of helping others who are going through similar circumstances (2 Corinthians 1) to find hope and healing in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Thank you for reading, and for responding. And, thank you for your encouraging words.

No, that is an introduction I wrote. Following that is a forward, written by my husband, and then begin the chapters. You can find the table of contents here where you can click on the individual chapters to read them: I Married My Dad

    Thank you for asking.
