  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

(sorry - I haven't posted in B/A since the forum split)

Hubby surprised me today by telling me we are going tomorrow to spend the afternoon and evening at a Mennonite commune/camp/church. Yaaay! I can't wait!

He warned me that they might be too Hippie for me, but I don't care - I can't wait to get to know the anabaptists in our new area!

Yaaay!

It was great!

They have a huge farm, with u-pick fruit and stuff.

We showed up in the afternoon, and they had about 25 kids playing some extreme frizbee game. Not all the families that were there were from the commune.

Some of them dressed plainly, some dressed extremely.

We had really nice talks with several of them. One is a speaker for injustices in South America. I sat next to a fellow at dinner - he and I spoke at length about what's going on in the Middle East, and every time I said something, his eyes widened a bit and he got excited and was nodding.

We've been invited to come back, and as we were leaving, my husband said that maybe when he takes his sabbatical we could come to stay for a while. I think he's nervous that I will convert. Poor guy doesn't realize I already have, in my heart.

:)
