I'm out of place here.....

because I'm not in full time ministry. I really need some help though, and this seems to be the best place on this board to find it. I teach Students at a very small, very poor church. I want to do a character study of Old Testament heroes, but I'm having a hard time finding any resources. I don't have the time (or the talent) to write my own, and surfing hasn't led me to what I want. Any help you guys can offer would be a great blessing to me. Thanks in advance.

May I suggest the books "Patriarchs and Prophets" and "Prophets and Kings" by Ellen White.

what type of kids do you teach, do you teach the deaf; because if you do i may be of some help. but other than that i'm afraid i'm of no use.

I sometimes THINK they're deaf. As near as I can tell, these are normal - :o - teens, except without exception they all attend Church because they want to, no one makes them and in most cases they are the only person in their family who attends Church at all. I feel blessed in that regard, but since they are teens, my time with them is now short, and their understanding of Scripture is on a very elementary level. One of our present aims is to get them in the habit of a daily quiet time. They had never heard of that just a few years ago and it isn't a part of their day right now.

One of the tough things, at least it seems to be, is making it relevant to where the kids are. Bringing the Bible to contemporary issues for the teens.

I had a former men's teacher who used the above outline - the studies were awesome! Keep in mind you'll also find flaws in the heros personalities - makes one relate a bit better to the characters - and that God still calls them.

Have you considered the Left Behind Series of book for kids? It brings biblical stories and revelation into current days. Makes it all very real.
