Well, now that depends on a few things. If an 18 year old still lives with his/her parents then the parents spiritual wishes should be respected.
IMO, if your parents are misguided you need to defy them. You should consider what they think, but then at 18 you should be mature enough to choose what's best in terms of entertainment. As long as you don't let what's on television sway your thinking or your actions, which a sane person knows how to do anyway, you shouldn't be worried about watching harder stuff than Fairly Odd Parents or something, by age 16.

This is quite funny for me to read now as I am completely over this issue. :) I still watch what I watch, but it's my choice now. My parents were right in what they did. I'm going to do the same thing with my kids!

You know when you look back on these things where your parents say "You'll thank me one day.." yeah, this is one of those things!! :)

Regardless of how old my sons get I have the right to say what type of movies or music is watched in my home. They will choose to watch what they want when they are away from home but for spiritual reasons they are certain types of music and movies that will not be allowed in my home by my children or any other guests.
