• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello,
I'm reluctant to post because it means I'm giving in to depression, or at least, acknowledging that it is back.
I've had a weird disease that has come and gone for the past 2 1/2 years. When the symptoms go away, the depression does, too. YES! But I had it for a year or so the first time, and then three months the second, so it doesn't seem to be a quick thing.
It started with non-viral hepatitis caused (maybe) by a different virus, such as CMV or Epstein-Barr. Then I couldn't eat or sleep and felt rotten for a very long time. It slowly went away after that for a number of months . It came back a year ago, went away for awhile, and for the last week or so seems to be back.
I also have the usual depressive symptoms: exhaustion, being spaced out, not being interested in doing anything, memory loss. I guess this is not that unusual--having a chronic illness accompanied by depression. But I was so hoping that I was done with it! It was so wonderful to feel good again, to be excited about life, be a strong part of my four daughters' lives rather than being a burden to everyone.

I'm in bed too tired to do anything (illness?), not feeling like doing anything (depression?)

I'm blessed to have had a break from this. Oh please Lord, let me not fall into it again!

Well, that was exhausting. Think I'll close my eyes for a minute.

My heart goes out to people on this forum. It looks like there are some wonderful people here who are coping, with God's help. Thanks for letting me spill...

Man what a name, I'm going to use CDCC for you. The symptoms of depression can mimic other disorders, and vice versa. If you are exhausted from chronic fatigue, you will mimic depression. If you have a low thyroid production, exhaustion, hair loss and depression mimicry. Go to your doctor and tell him/her what is going on. Write down your symptoms beforehand and keep a log of when you feel certain things, okay?

Praying for you
Admitting you are feeling bad isn't an admission of defeat, sweetie, it's the first step to getting some help and beginning to recover.
Feel free to spill all you like here, it's what the forum is for! And a lot of us do understand, perhaps not your precise situation, but what it is to live with recurring depression.
Just hold on... you have recovered before, you will again.
