I'm dealing with unwanted thoughts about blasphemy

I've been struggling with this fear for a while. These thoughts used to scare me but now I feel so empty inside that they no longer bother me. This frightens me Anyone else experience this?

I've had these unwanted thoughts occasionally, and I've talked to other people on these forums who have had them far more often. Consider how many people have unwanted thoughts about any number of things; lust comes to mind, as does feelings of hatred, or temptations for sin of any kind.

If you do not give permission to these thoughts, you will not sin; if you do not get obsessed over these thoughts, the thoughts will not win. Don't be controlled by something that you know is not you. I've gotten over a lot of lustful thoughts by realizing, "That's not me." By disassociating myself from those thoughts, they are far less bothersome, as I am fully aware that I am not giving consent to these thoughts. This also makes me think far less about them, passing them off as something that comes & goes, not giving them any attention. There's a wonderful old saying; You can't stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from making a nest in your hair.

Don't give in to the blasphemous thoughts; don't let them control you, either. Satan wants you to feel miserable, whereas Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5). Recognize that those thoughts are not from you, and let them pass. When you don't pay attention to the enemy's attempts, he won't harass you as much. Don't fear that you're not being bothered by these thoughts anymore; recognize that you're already detaching yourself from these thoughts that you know are not yours.

I feel sometimes that they are me. When I woke up in the middle the night, in a lucid state, I thought the Holy Spirit was evil. I still want forgiveness but I'm worried that I'm in a numb state. I fear that this part of my enteral judgement.

It is possible to give someone drugs, or hypnotize them, to make them say anything. Some stages along sleep function in a similar way. Even if you said words, that doesn't mean anything if you didn't intend them; even if you felt fine about it while you were in a screwy state of mind, that doesn't mean you're actually aware of what's going on. You can't sin without giving consent; if the devil could force you to sin, that would mean he's more powerful than God, and that's just wrong. Keep this in mind, consider all of this as trials to build perseverance, and stick with God as best as you can; He understands your situation better than you're giving Him credit for.

.....I just got a distressing E-mail from a Christian Church leader saying I can't be forgiven for what I've done. That messed with my head and put me in a dark spiral.

Unwanted thoughts are only sinful when they are no longer unwanted. Please know that God's loving truth is stronger than your feelings. Feelings change and can be tricked but God is always there. The unforgivable sin leaves you uncaring about God, Jesus and sin. For as long as you desire to be God's child His Spirit works in you.

Try establish the truth of God by passing each thought past the word, let God's word determine your reality and you will soon feel a whole lot better.

It’s a tool that you know who uses. Pray against it.

Oh, yes. A lot of us experience this. It's not uncommon. Be assured that these thoughts are not coming from you.

No, I don't think so. I've questioned God's goodness before because I felt He wasn't helping me and a few hyper Calvinists broke my realationship and got into my head.

What do you mean by "broke your relationship"?

I had joy and peace with God. I never stopped believing. They made be question His goodness because they said He was the cause of all things. Even evil. They showed me some verses that I know now we're wrongly interpreted.

Praise God that the Holy Spirit opened your eyes to the lies of those who were twisting scripture and making God out to be evil and I would venture to say that their attempt to lead you into believing a lie could very well be contributing to your unwanted thoughts of blasphemy, but now that the lies have been undone, you have no reason to doubt the goodness of God as the strength of these unwanted thoughts should already be diminished. Are there any other contributing factors, besides the false doctrine of the hyper-Calvinists, that you can identify that might also be giving life to these thoughts?

Thanks for your reply. I think it had a lot to do with it.

I always wondered how the devil fell and why he was created. My answer is he had free will but I don't get why he sinned if he used to be good

There are some verses in the OT that make me uncomfortable. I don't know if I should bring them up here.
