How can there be more then one way to be Christian. Like shouldn't there be one standardized way, because what if one group is believing something wrong then aren't they screwed?
How do you mean? All the denominations accept the same central teachings of God.

there is one group that believes it is unnecessary to use the actual name of Christ to get into heaven.

There are many groups that will call themselves Christians....
that does not make them a genuine Christian.

I can dress up like a man.
And, call myself a man.
That does not make me a man.

A Christian follows the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hope that helps.
A little.

Be Blessed.

PS. just a side note: The bible actually warns us in many areas..... that there are those who will purpose to deceive. ie: a sheep in a wolf costume.
Remember, there is evil out there....that does not want Truth to be proclaimed.

Hi friend,

You won't make a mistake in how you come to Christ, as God knows your heart.

Since Jesus is God and Jesus is the way, the truth and the life...

You can just talk to God, and say to yourself or outloud, that I believe in you and thank Him.

I came to Christ in a differnt way.

I answered two questions only.

Would I commit my life to Christ,
and would I die for Christ..

Here's a verse about salvation:

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.

This wonderful verse not only shows us how to come to Christ, but also proves that we can never lose our salvation. The word in verse redemption means salvation.

and another:

9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Here is another verse from the bible, about coming to Christ.

Once we are in Christ, we are marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit of course is God, and again we can never lose our salvation.

As Christians, we still sin and always will, but as one grows in Christ we turn from sin, but we still continue to sin, till the day we die.

Also, just to note that the God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit, are One God, in three persons. This is called the trinity.

God bless you in your journey,
tapero

It keeps us on our toes!

Imagine if we had the system all locked up, and people could just do the right thing and get to heaven. That would put the control into our hands, and we wouldn't even bother connecting with God. People would figure out a way to bottle and sell it.

There can't, that's why Jesus warns that many who will come to Him calling Him "Lord" will be told "I never knew you" - these are people who have followed men's ideas, they have not sought God for his way.

There's only one way to become a Christian, it's the same message of new life that we see in nature - a seed needs to be planted/buried and watered for there to be new life.

The gospel isn't just the story of Jesus - it's how we get the Life he died to give.

After hearing the story of Jesus, people asked Peter & the apostles:-

Acts 2:37: Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Peter didn't tell them "pray the sinners prayer" or "give your heart to Jesus", or one of the other "gospels" preached today. Rather he said:-

"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." (vv38-39)

Baptism is burial, identifying with Jesus death, receiving the Spirit is "living water" that brings the New Life.

The same message is preached and practiced from then on.
Sometimes people receive the Spirit before the are baptised, but they are still baptised. Jesus is our example, he began by demanding to be baptised (immersed, as a believer), then he prayed and was anointed by the Spirit, God bearing witness - a voice was heard, just like God must bare our hearts independant witness with the new tongue - speaking in tongues.

This is the true "born again" experience:-
John 3:8: The wind bloweth (Gr. the Spirit breathes) where it wills, and you hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell whence it comes, and whither it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

You can compare spiritual life to learning how to swim. No matter how many books you read on the subject, you will not be an Olympic swimmer unless you get out there in the pool and build up your muscles, experiment with your breathing, connect with scouts and coaches...

It is a life of activity. The right answers don't get you in.

Christians must abide by what the Bible says wholeheartedly. The Bible interprets itself. They can't accept just 98% of the Bible and ignore the rest. Its like drinking 98% orange juice and 2% cyanide.

Its obvious that the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus Christ.

What do you mean "without saying the name of Christ"? If they don't mention Christ in anything its already suspect.

If you're a follower of Christ, then you're saved. At least that's what I think. I get annoyed when denominations argue about who's righter or wronger. They all believe that Jesus died for them and have accepted him as Lord and savior. If you ask me, that should be enough.

True, but how do you follow Christ ?
Where do you begin ?

Do you begin as he did by demanding to be baptised then praying to be anointed by the Spirit, whereupon God bare witness, a voice being heard ?

That's a bit radical !
That would mean you have to get baptised and wait to start speaking in tongues like all Jesus followers did before accepting you are following Him !!

There is only one requirement ot be saved and that is belief in Christ.

No doubt about it.
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.

the above verse shows we can never lose our salvation..also says what happens when we believed (not did.

8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.

this verse clearly shows works is no part of salvation.

I do not speak in tongues

The above shows the Holy Spirit indwells us upon belief.

I was a Christian a year before I got baptised physcially.

Baptism is not a requirement in any way for salvation.

I didn't even do any of the above verses to come to Christ, again i answered two questions.

Would I commit my life to Christ
Would I die for Christ.

Instantly at my answer of yes was I a new creation in Christ the old had passed, went outdoors saw creation in a way I had never seen before,
and further, instantly occured to me that I had always known this truth.

clearly romans says such, men suppress the truth.

was never exposed to God, taught about God, thought about God, etc.

but when i was saved, i instantly knew i had alwys known this truth.

John 14:5-7 (New International Version)

Jesus the Way to the Father

5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

Matthew 7:13-14 (New International Version)
The Narrow and Wide Gates

13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Truly your question is very broad, so if i do not answer it in the way that you wished, please forgive me... but truly there is One way for Christians.....it is all explained very clearly in The Bible. Now if you are referring to all the different denominations, well.....i will be honest and tell you that denominations are a product of arguments and unwillingness to work in unity as we Christians should. I do not agree with denominations and that's why i am NON-Denominational.....which simply means i follow the teaching of the Bible....i do not add or take anything away from it. If Christians would all do this there indeed would be ONE WAY.....and that's JESUS!
