• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I would fear it too Caty but God has told us that we need not fear anyone but God. And that is not a cowering terror but an awe inspiring reverential respect and awareness of His greatness and His power but also of his mercy. Notice that after the scripture about fearing God it talks about how much he cares for us. Even the number of hairs we have on our head HE KNOWS. He knows all about us and loves us with an everlasting love.

Mat 10:28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Mat 10:29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny [fn]? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Mat 10:30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Mat 10:31So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

thats not what I asked, is it still from God (the Holy Spirit) if I only come because of the fear of Hell?? I mean I know I need a savior and Im a sinner & stuff....

The reason you fear hell is because you have sinned against God. The only escape from Hell is what Christ did upon the cross for you. He died to save sinners from the power and consequences of sin.

I don't know caty. Feels like semantics to me.

I would think that the fear of hell IS the fear of God. The thing we fear about hell, comes from the result of God's judgment on us. Not hell itself.

If we make it through, then hell is no concern to us. It's "making it through" which raises our apprehension.

I'm no prophet, but it feels like you are having trouble in the faith category. Specifically, I don't think you believe that God has forgiven you already, even you before you asked. He has, you know?

It's important to maintain your faith in this issue, as this certifies your forgiveness. And your doubt, keeps whatever it is alive.

If you have asked for God's forgiveness, it's gone away for good. Honest.

So please, forgive yourself....faith..... please.

God doesn't want you to be in Hell. Why would He? What does God get out of it, if you're in Hell? Plus, if God wants you to go to Hell for...any reason at all, how is He a God of Love then?

That made me weep. Of course He doesn't want us in hell! He died to keep us from it! Praise God!!!

When Christ died on the Cross, He took upon Himself ALL the sins of the world. So say a sin is unforgivable is to give insult to The Resurrection. When Jesus talked of an unforgivable sin, it was BEFORE The Resurrection. Everything the Bible says about Hades before The Resurrection is invalidated by The Resurrection itself. Christ took upon Himself ALL sins. TO SPEAK OF AN "UNFORGIVABLE SIN" IS TO DENY CHRIST...

Now go...and make a true repentance. I don't want to see this thread continue with more, "Maybe God loves me, but maybe He doesn't?" Gee, I don't know, He just died for ALL SIN OF THE WORLD (that includes your own) I don't know, does He love you?

And to answer your question about your desire to be saved, is it from God. All the good that we do is owing to The Holy Spirit working through us.

I don't think it matters what motivates us to come to God, sorrow, loss, or fear as long as we repent and turn to God. In the story of the Philippian Jailer who came and threw himself at Paul and Silas' feet and begged "What must I do to be saved" I think he was very afraid. There had been an earthquake so powerful that all the jail doors were opened and the chains fell off Paul and Silas. He was concerned that all the prisoners in his charge had escaped and that would mean a death sentence for himself for failing to keep them secured and in prison. He was about to kill himself due to this fear when Paul called out to him to stop and not hurt himself. Paul and Silas had been praising singing and worshipping THE LORD GOD even though they were in chains and had been beaten etc. So the jailer knew were to go for salvation just was not sure how to go about it. I think even though he came in extreme fear of torment and punishment that his salvation was valid at least paul thought it was.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:25But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:26Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:27And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:28But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here."

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:29Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:30And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:31So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:32Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:33And he took them the same hour of the night and washed [their] stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Act 16:34Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.
