• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello again Caty!

I once read about a young girl whose father left the home. She began to wonder if something she said, thought, or did was the cause.

She felt completely abandoned, and the things her father said only made it worse. After a time she became completely convinced that she had been the major cause of her father's abandonment of his home. But because it was VERY difficult ro even think about this idea, she began to "transfer" her father's abandonment to God, again incorrectly thinking that God had abandoned her because of something she thought, said or did.

And thus she both grieved and tortured herself night and day, falsly believing that the Lord was so greatly affected by her thoughts and actions that He also had abandoned her forever.

It's a pretty sad story, a story based on her ignorance of who the Lord is and also her ignorance of why men generally leave their homes.

So if she had had understanding of the fact that her father, being only a man, had succumbed to Man's common weakness of listening to and heeding the Devil's VERY strong influence, she could have forgiven her father and moved on with her life.

This is such a common story nowadays in these tough times, I thought you might be able to relate to all or even part of it.

Best Blessings,
"Arph"

I find it interesting how more than one person mentioned the father. It actually makes me think about my own life and how I view our Heavenly Father vs the issues with my earthly dad.

It is amazing how circumstances on earth can effect such things as our relationship with God and even other people..

Your in my prayers Caty, God is going to get you through all this :hug:

Just tell God you love Him. When people come to God he says He will not cast out you can ask forgiveness for actual sin (not imagined fears of sin) and KNOW that he hears and answers this prayer. He has alos promised to fill those who come to Him with his Holy spirit to give you the power to live for him. Read the Book of the Acts of the Apostles about the early church. These people had scattered and were so fearful after Jesus died but after he rose again and they received the Holy spirit they became strong in the Lord. don't think you have to be just like them, God knows you and he will speak to you and show you how to live rightly for Him. I hope this isn't too preachy or whatever. Ijust want you to know that you are on the right track. Praise the Lord.

Hbr 7:25Therefore he is able to save completely [fn] those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

im kinda feeling a little good right now, where do i start?

While I am happy that you are feeling good just remember they are only feelings.

God loves you no matter what your feelings are like at the time

God is willing to forgive you no matter what your feelings are.

Feelings are just feelings.

see i went to talk to this pastor one time and i told him what was going on and i could tell he was very puzzeled at my situation. i told him my whole story about me trying to come to God and the thoughts and worries and anger and stuff. and he told me i hadn't done this and i asked him how he knew that and he said it was an intentional sin (but even if it was intentional at the time, could God not forgive you later if you wanted to change??) but anways he told me the sin was calling an actual act of the Holy Spirit that bad thing, and then he gave me this worried and kinda of puzzeled look and said, "you haven't sone that....have you...??" and i told him, "no" and then he kinda of looked relieved but that has stuck with me and i always thought...what if i had told him yes, would he have told me i was going to Hell?? just by the way he acted it always worried me.

There is one thing, and one thing only, that separates you from God - to continually reject His Son.

You see, to refuse Jesus is to refuse the forgiveness that is perpetually being offered to us through Him.
Like sitting on a branch then sawing it off the tree - you are deliberately removing your only source of support!

Jesus will always, always ALWAYS receive all who come to Him. ALWAYS!
He says that Himself in John 6:37 -

"All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away."

The unforgiveable sin is persistent rejection of the remedy. If you still have a grain of desire to seek that Remedy, then you are not in that condition but are being drawn by the kindness of God - the kindness of God!

I pray you find encouragement to trust Him to do as He says - to receive you with open arms.

As for priests and preachers - just people like all of us, so do not fear them - always test their opinions, (and mine!) againt God's! :)

...because--i don't mean this in a bad way, but what also bothers me is that the people who are telling me that they don't think ive committed this sin are the same people who believe that it isn't accepting Jesus into your heart, but isnt the Bible clear that it lies w/in words??

Hey Caty

You have never in your life blasphemed against the Holy Spirit. I can truthfully declare that before God. (And just did). How can I be so sure? Lemme tell you. God loves you too much to reveal something to you that He knows you'll confuse with evil. That's why He only reveals to us that which we can handle. If God allowed you to commit this sin, you would not have been able to accept Jesus Christ as your saviour. It's only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to come to Jesus, and to believe in God. You are under the influence of the Holy Spirit. If you blasphemed against Him, you would no longer be under His influence. If you are able to open your mouth, and say "Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour", then it is evidence enough of His presence. So, don't worry. After all, the Holy Spirit drew you here, in order for you to be comforted with the truth. He loves you more than any human ever could. It's the devil that tries to fill your head with lies, and to make you worry so much.

Regards
Andre

whenever i try to watch christian shows and stuff or read the Bible a huge fear comes over me, i dont know where to start

Don't head the fear and watch them or read them anyway. Fear is not of God. Perfect Love casts out all fear. It is just the enemy trying to keep you in bondage. Jesus Christ will set you free and the enemy knows it and will do what He can to keep you as far away from Him as possible. You don't have to give in to that fear. Do you understand that? You do not have to give in to fear. One more time. You do not have to give in to fear. Tell the enemy to take a hike in Jesus Name.

But (& im not trying to keep this going on) but Supplanter, honestly do you think that i am saved or can be or do you think that there is chance and im taking a gamble (its kinda worrying me)

Yes, you can be saved, it is not a gamble. For the question about whether or not you are: Do you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to pay for all your sins and have you confessed that Jesus is Lord? All it takes is repentance (a repentant heart-desiring not to sin) and surrendering your life to Jesus (saying that He is the one in charge).

I can't judge your heart, but from what I have seen you believe in Christ as the Son of God and desire him with all your heart, which would mean that you are saved.

Yes, I believe those things. Even with that unforgiveable sin scripture--you still believe that about me (that i can be saved)??

Then you are saved. I don't have any doubts from what you have said. Now you just are having to persevere. Just keep holding fast. I know it isn't easy, but God will see you through this even when all things look contrary to that. Jesus will rescue you. You have the authority to rebuke a spirit of fear and whatever else the enemy is throwing at you. Do not be afraid, just forget every other doubt and worry and cling to the Lord. He will not let you down.

My dear sister

You have been saved. (Romans 10:9, 13). Done and dusted. You are under the wonderful influence of the Holy Spirit. It's satan that tries to scare you with lies. Whenever you feel afraid, open your mouth and proclaim Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Satan hates that. It drives fear away. The Bible says that if you resist the devil then he will flee. (James 4:7)

Also, have a squizz at John 10:29. That's what Jesus says about you. :)
