What are your thoughts on the following statement:

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not sure what there is to think about it. All children are legitimate, regardless of their parents.

I disagree. No parent is illegitimate if they do their job and properly care and provide for their children regardless of whether or not the children were born out of wedlock. In today's day and age, where marriage is becoming more and more a convenience than a requirement (an unfortuante thing, in my humble opinion) when having children, I firmly believe that we need to get rid of the old stereotypes.
However, if a person has a child out of wedlock and does nothing to help raise that child, that person is an illegitimate parent.

Drivel, based on the "all children are precious widdle angels, how DARE you imply they are less than perfect" sentiment popular today. They fail to see "illegimat child" means "child born out of wedlock, i.e. the parents error", the child is "illegimate son/daughter of X" not "not legitamately a child"..
That most people violate a standard does not mean the standard should be gotten rid off. That there are tons of little *******s running around does not change that there are tons of litte *******s running around. "But everyones doing it!!" is something you discipline your kids for when they use it as an excuse, not use it yourself.
That's another thing behind the statement, parents of illegimate kids want to validate their wrong actions by getting rid of the "wrong".

I mean, my "dad' was pretty illegitimate as far as the whole parenting scene went. He told my mum he didn't want me when I was 3 days old. Yet they stayed married and are still married to this day (almost 23 years later). When I was growing up I wished my parents would get divorced, while I had friends whose parents never married, but had very happy relationships regardless of their legal status.
The healthiness of a home environment doesn't always have much to do with the legal status of the parents.
Edit to say: No I don't know why she didn't kick his head in. This has always been a mystery to me.

People need to get over the idea that children born into certain situations need a special category. Easier to keep out the riff-raff that way, though. "Johnny, don't invite Jimmy home for dinner. He's illegitimate."

Jesus was considered illegitimate by the ancient Jews. Their account of Him was that Mary was raped (or had an affair) with a Roman soldier named Pantera. So when we mention Jesus to an Orthodox Jew today, they understand we are talking about Jesus Ben Pantera.
Christians do not recognize Jesus as having been fathered by a mortal so the absence of the traditional title of the father's name before the son's in those times, does not cloud the Christian's perspective.
So according to the New Testament's implying that all children belong to Jesus, there are no real illegitimate children in the world.
