Maybe you don't know that they're not banning stoves. Maybe you don't know that they are simply regulating energy outputs. Maybe you didn't know that that is effectively ensuring the design of new stoves does not include a constantly burning ignition flame. Maybe you didn't know how small a financial change that would be for the industry:

'In order to bring products into compliance with new and amended standards, it is estimated that the industry would incur total conversion costs of $183.4 million'. Federal Register :: Request Access

That's a ridiculously small amount.

Feel free to read the link. It's quite informative. It'll tell you everything you want to know. And, this is the point you should understand, it has absolutely nothing to do with socialism. Which is why you brought this up in the first place.
Maybe you don't know that things can be regulated out of existence. Obama tried that with his, "They can build a coal fired power plant, but they'll just end up going bankrupt".
Gun ban advocates also caught onto that idea by proposing tax on ammunition of 10,000%. You can still buy it, but hardly anyone could afford to.
Maybe you didn't know, but I've been more than happy to inform you.

Let me remind you that your original comment was that the WH was going to 'outlaw household appliances' and that that was an example of socialism.

First of all you've been shown that the current changes to appliance efficiency are state driven.

Secondly, any proposed federal changes to specifically gas stoves are just a matter of increasing efficiency and doing away with pilot lights.

Thirdly, you have been shown that any cost to the industry worth $55 billion barely registers (something like 0.0000003%).

Fourth, I guess nobody in your world buys more efficient appliances that save them money, else why complain about them.

And fifth, the main point of this exchange, it STILL has nothing to do with socialism.

They didn’t ban horses from public thoroughfares the day Ford opened his automotive company.
Coal fired generating plants would be the “horses” in this case.

First, it got started at the federal level: Opinion | Biden Cracks Down on Gas Stoves—and Much More

Second, just like with raising fuel efficiency standards for cars, it's meant to regulate to the point that electric versions are the only option.

Third, where'd you get that number?

Fourth, my world is none of your business.

Fifth, why are you obsessing about socialism???

No, but they sure made it difficult for anyone who chose to use them for transportation from that point onward.

I'm not. It was you that brought up the WH banning appliances as an example of it. You are wrong on the first count and monstrously wrong on the second.

Right. Because old tech is old tech.
There are still vinyl-aficionados amongst audiophiles. (I think we still have a couple of cylinder-players around somewhere too!), but for the most part music is delivered differently.
Coal fired electric-generating power plants need to go away.

Natural gas too, even though we heat our water and homes with it, cook with it, generate the electricity that biden wants everything to run on with it? Even though a viable alternative isn't ready yet, and even though we still have energy shortages while it's still allowed?

Go complain to the “free market”, they’re the ones who are supposed to come up with solutions to problems, not government, I thought you were conservative?

Coal goes first. Then gas. Then our reliance on mains electricity will slowly reduce as we use solar panels. Some local councils already require panels on all new homes. That may well be a state requirement shortly. Diesel cars will go first, then all petrol as we move towards plug in hybrid. Then all electric eventually.

I've got a hybrid. I'm going solar. Gas will only be used for hot water and cooking.

Edison’s DC current would have required generating stations on every few miles, maybe small-is-good will make a comeback in the electricity-generating game?

They already came up with the solutions by building the infrastructure to distribute the natural gas we now have. Government is what is causing the problem of regulating it out of existence in order to meet the approval of the extreme environmental Left.

Now you're just parroting climate alarmism.
Yes, it’s been hotter (and cooler) on this planet before.
But we humans weren’t human back then.
Now we are and we are pumping billions of tons of heat-trapping carbon into the environment.
When the tropical paradise is “Manitoba”, it will have already been too late.
Enjoy your day.

Just as a reminder of how this started:

B: Which cities are promoting the social ownership of the means of production?
A: Sounds like you haven't been keeping up on biden's power grab to outlaw household appliances, the latest being light bulbs.

It's still not socialism.

It seems to mean whatever you want it to mean. Have you never checked? I'm sure we all know what Republicanism is. Or capitalism. Or fascism. But why is there so much confusion when it comes to socialism? There isn't a definition for it in existence that would come anywhere near what you seem to think it is (more efficient light bulbs?).

Like I said, it's socialism. Plain and simple. Check and see if you don't believe me.

I know what socialism is. I've studied it. I grew up in the UK when there were socialist policies in place by the Labour government. I've visited socialist and communist countries. Socialism has nothing to do with kitchen appliance efficiency and banning certain types of light bulbs.

I thought that you might have just be taking an opportunity to have a pop at Biden (seems any opportunity is valid, whether on topic or not). But I'm beginning to think that you really don't understand what it means.

I'd like to know who is explaining this to you so I can find out where the problem lies.
