IJWTS-I'm thinking of changing my username, but I don't know what to change it to. Not here, but on another Christian message board where I also use Historia. On CF, I'll probably stay Historia forever.

ETA: Ok, I think I like the username Lilliputian. I haven't actually read Gulliver's Travels but I am familiar with lilliputians being very short people and I just like the word. For anyone that has actually read the book, is that a bad thing to name myself?

IJWTS-Ok, I've decided. I'm changing it now, if I can.

ETA: Darn it, I can't yet :( I need more points before I can. I would change my username here, but it's more of a hassle and I think I've firmly established myself here as Historia.

ETAA: Yay for generous people!

IJWTS I utterly despise looking for a job, because all it does it make me feel worse about my situation, and discourage me even more and make me give up in frustration before I ever start

IJWTS I have been fortunate in job searching over the years. Everyone around here is saying they can't find a teaching job anywhere, but I had a job offer within 4 hours of my interview because they said they didn't want me to go anywhere else.

There are good jobs out there available, just be patient and keep looking. Even if it is not the exact job you want, you have to look into the potential and possibility to move within the company to get the job you want over time.

IJWTS that's just it, though... I don't care about moving up in the company. I'd rather just do the job and tell them to leave me alone...
I care more about being happy than I do about money increase, and without a drive to want to have a job, I always come back to the same conclusion: I'd rather die and at least I'd be happier than doing a job that makes my life a living hell and being depressed 24/7.

I know that sounds like a very negative and defeated attitude, but without a positive drive in my life, I can't care less, and every time I try, I feel like crap.

Don't give up, you will get a job sooner or later if you keep trying. :)

IJWTS I don't even WANT to try anymore, because I don't have anything in this life that encourages me to try.

money does not inspire me, and never has... all it is to me is a hindrance.

not for me. and I'm not saying this to be a free-loader or anything like that...

I'm perfectly happy earning minimum wage, living in the crappiest place in town working a job that I WANT to do, and that gives me mental, emotional and spiritual completion in my life rather than living in a mansion making millions and being depressed out of my mind.

money may be your driving force, but I NEVER want it to be mine. EVER

And that is fine. If you are doing what you love, go for it. For me, I have yet to see any minimum wage job that would give me that kind of joy and fulfillment. I don't think being a fry cook is my passion in life.

Money isn't a motivating factor for me either. If it was, I wouldn't be in the profession I am in. I am in it because I love working with kids.

But being happy in a crappy paying job is much different than just giving up on finding a job and not working at all.

for me, it all comes down to one thing: motivation.

if I have none, then not even the fact of needing one motivates me.
this may sound morbid, but it's gotten to the point to where I'd rather die on the street from malnutrition and dehydration because of the lack of motivation.

I want that drive, but I'm not finding it anywhere, and it discourages me even more from trying

IJWTS that I'm very confused right now. His behavior makes no sense at all.
IJWTS wow! I can't remember you ever posting in this thread :p

IAWTS I am seriously annoyed by the cost of flying cross country. I wish my family would just leave that soaked State in the Northwest and move to sunnier weather out East.
