  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have no idea who Paul Washer is
and I never heard any of his youth messages, shocking or not

I will have to google this now
you have captured my interest

Yeah he gave some sermon where he talked about the passage with the narrow gate and the wide road and how there are many people who claim to be Christians who aren't actually saved and who continue to turn away from God and embrace the things that He hates.

The problem, of course, is that Paul Washer seems to conflate "things God hates" with "things the SBC hates" and as such tends to harp on things like how we've turned from God because we're listening to non-Christian music, and other such nonsense. It's not a terrible sermon and there's some good stuff in it, but man... Anyway, the sermon really took off and now people's definition of a "watered-down" sermon seems to be "Anything that doesn't make me feel like an awful person." It's kind of a bizarre concept that's especially prevalent in, surprise surprise, the YRR movement.

i am listening to it right now
he starts out by saying "if you do not agree with what I have to say, it is not me who you disagree with, it is God who you disagree with"
he basically calls himself a prophet... wow red flags and sirens going off from the start

hahaha after he goes into a tirade he says "I do not know why you are clapping, I am talking about you" that was funny

some of his sermon is about infighting between differant branches of the Baptist church so I am not picking up on some of the nuances of his sermon

and... wow this is kinda a guilt trip
I understand his point about secular music
it is not that it is secular music, it is more agianst music that is sinnful, like songs about sex and violence
unless I am just missunderstanding him
