CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

IJWTS I never knew I could feel so complete with someone... we were in a constant state of shock and awe and amazement the whole time, and still are. Now my other half is missing... temporary, I know, but I still feel like curling up in a fetal position and crying. Must be strong.

Heath Ledger's performance was the best performance in a movie..(perhaps)

The Dark Knight is the Empire Strikes Back for the Star Wars movies...it's dark, bleak, ominous. The light of hope dims. Chaos and evil seem to get the upper hand. But even then, hope is never diminished.
It's excellence. The new characters, Joker and Two-Face, only make it better. This movie probably wouldn't have worked so well without Ledger.....but at the same time, discounting Bale's, Eckhart's, Oldman's, and Freeman's performances is almost impossible.

I still think Michael Keaton was the best of the actors to play Batman though you younger folk probably think otherwise.
As for the darkest I still think Batman Returns is a dark film, definitely more gothic in feel.
The Dark Knight is dark in a psycho thriller sense. It doesn't have that moody, brooding feel of Batman Returns.

Supposing we kept your premise that the Batman Trilogy cannot be as good as the Star Wars one (in my mind there are only 3 movies in that series), you're still totally forgetting about the little films knows as The Lord of the Rings.
You simply can't compare Batman to Star Wars.
This generation has yet to see such an amazing trilogy* of characters and plot like Star Wars gave us.
*I don't count the newer movies as they are total rubbish
