ijwts- we are supposed to get snow tomorrow all day and it was about 65 degrees here today; it's very crazy, but i hope it gets me out of work on Mon.

IJWTS - This morning, I saved about $125 just by knowing the model number of the transmission in my car. I was due to have the filter replaced, but several shops were quoting me $150 just for the part. This didn't make sense to me, considering the filter kit for a 4L60E typically sells for about $25. Apparently, whatever parts database the shops use associates an incorrect price with my vehicle. Because I knew the specific information, I was able to bypass the error and get a realistic quote. In an ideal world in which I have access to a garage with a lift, I would have done the work myself... but I consider this $160 (for the filter, fluid, and labor) well spent. My goal is to help the car reach 200,000 miles without requiring major repairs, and preventative maintenance is the only way to do it.
