  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

yes it is, I actually got some legal advice on it because at my old store, they were consistently scheduling many of us 6-7 hours between shifts, and apparently there is nothing illegal about it. It's bad business practice and obviously they aren't going to get me at my best for that second shift, but that's their decision, they are allowed to treat us however they want as long as they are within the law.

Here, it's a minimum 8-hours between shifts by law, and at least 10 hours according to the CBA with the union.

Call me ignorant about laws and such - I wonder if that changes from state to state...my brother's an assistant manager and his job was scheduling him like that...he never said anything,but my brother in law who's a lawyer was constantly on his case to do something about it because it wasn't eight hours in between..

Anywho - praying you'll really have and feel His strength

Thanks Mary! All I know is I got some free legal counsel about NC labor laws and the guy said it was crappy of them, but completely legal. how trustworthy that advice was, who knows. But I'm kinda stuck with it. It would be different if walmart had a union, but since they don't, nothin I can do but suck it up and work to the best of my ability and be thankful that I have a job at all. I could be in much worse shape here :)
