This is a very powerful and moving poem that a friend of mine from my church wrote, I asked him if I could share it with you guy's here and he has kindly said yes.
If I had welded the whip,
Would you have died for me?
If had I spat upon your face,
Would you have died for me?
If I had nailed your feet and hands,
Would you have died for me?
If I laughed while you hung there,
Would you have died for me?
Many times I whipped you with words,
Still you died for me.
Many times I spat your name as an oath,
Still you died for me.
Many times I nailed your words shut,
Still you died for me.
Many times I laughed at your followers,
Yet still you died for me.
The whip ripped the flesh from your back,
You prayed for me.
The spittle ran down your face,
You loved me.
The nails tore your muscles apart,
You forgave me.
The laughter broke your heart,
And YOU went to the cross for me.
