• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you're frustrated with the frustrated thread...

you are so funny, LOL.....

there was another board i used to go to a long LONG time ago - they had "the vent thread" - it was basically one centralized place where everybody could go and vent about whatever was bugging them - perhaps this should be a "vent thread"?

hahahaha...thanks for making me laugh, seajoy. I was just thinking that maybe we needed a beer thread in here.
Maybe one of these days you'll be able to email somebody a beer.

Is it always like this around here?? It's a little scary. I'm afraid I may ask the wrong question and get blown to bits.

I'll take a cup of tea too if you don't mind...plenty of sugar in mine, please.

Blessings, Beth

Not always...it comes in spurts.

Then post here....

LOL, I love the tennis comments!

I just made a pot of Stash Licorice tea. Anyone want a wee cuppa? I'll be mother! I even have some old stiff licorice to use as stir sticks! They work great! Can't have the caffineated type this time of night or I'll never sleep!;)

I've been on a tea kick for the last few months. We're trying to cut back wherever we can, and I found out that on the bottom row in the tea isle they always keep inexpensive tagless teabags, 100 for a dollar. National Cup brand at Walmart. At a penny a cup, that's some pretty cheap caffeine. Much cheaper than any coffee I've found, and the quality is surprisingly good. I like tea as much as coffee anyway.

Hehe, apparently I'm a tea sinner. I always put two bags in my little tea pot, fill it up with water, and pop it in the microwave for three and a half minutes.

Even though I'm fairly certain no one give's a rat's tail what I think, it does get tiresome coming here to read the same few posters throwing their predictable temper tantrums and offending anyone who dares try to reestablish a peaceful and loving environment that reflects what Christ commanded us to do. :(

Again, I realize my presence isn't missed much, but as there are still a few pleasant, learned, fun and loving posters in TCL whose interaction I appreciate (even though a couple of them are treated pretty badly by other regulars). Unfortunately, most of them don't frequent here very often, either and I don't believe it's all down to rude non-Lutheran visitors in the mixed forum.

I will be the first to admit that I can be a pain. I am prayerfully trying to change this. I still fail at times, but I would hope it's getting fewer and further in between. Everyone has struggles that make life interesting. Some of us have that cranky fault that makes us want the other person to get what we are saying.....no matter what. A very learned fellow here taught me that we need to say the truth and let the Holy Spirit do His job. I think it was some of the best advice I ever got.

My 'puter is slow today so I'm not going to look for it but didn't I just see you post something in another thread about defending the "faith" at all costs?:p

Inconsistency is one of my biggest faults. :holy:

And here I thought it was a club of just me.;)

As to Porter's other comments... Who.. me?

Porter, for my part, you are missed here a great deal. I always enjoy your posts.
Thanks for the tip on the Cayanne pepper, by the way. Since I don't have the capsules, I've been adding it everywhere regular pepper goes. Cayanne is surprisingly good with Cottage Cheese, go figure.

Tanj, you... you... tea-cretin you!:p;) At least you don't waste the gas I often do by keeping the kettle on low all day. Energy sinner that I am. :p

Seajoy, I realize that in the heat of some debates, feelings can get played upon and our knee-jerk reactions seem to get the better of us. Few of us here have been unaffected in that sense, but there are a few here who almost seem to thrive on getting the better of others with sickening levels of pride and arrogance, as if they can't help themselves.

Why they don't realize the words they've typed might have hurt someone else and not at all added to the topic is what disappoints me. It's as if they have such limited debating skills, they must resort to personal attacks or post their intent to stomp away in a huff. It all appears so childish, embarrassing and not in any way reflective of Christ.

As I stated, we are all most likely able to identify with being angered and agitated by some posts and of course most of us have typed responses we shouldn't have, but we do have the option to not react or take the bait. I do believe some of the visitors here are indeed baiting because they know full well they'll get emotive reactions from certain TCL members, even getting them to turn on one another, which can be even more vicious. What little time I have to come here lately is often ruined because of that and it bothers me. :(

For the record, you are one of the few folks who at least looks to have what you feel are poorly worded posts removed without being prompted to, so I would hardly consider you one of the ill-tempered. Being inconsistent isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just means you're spontaneous, right? ;)

Stude, I appreciate your words, but life is just a bit different and demanding in good ways that keeps from lingering here, which is OK, so not to worry. We have a pretty special community around us IRL. :)

Glad you're liking the cayenne and I hope it builds up in yours system quickly. It is good with lots of foods and if you want something really tasty, mix your cottage cheese with salsa. :yum: Don't forget, too, that should your throat hurt, you can mix a fair bit of cayenne with honey, lemon and water or juice, etc. and it will help. Oh.....be prepared for the possible improved efficiency effect on your digestive system. Just sayin' :sorry:
