Here's the link where the man in the video got his information from. Lottery Winner Statistics

Thank you for the informative post and clarification. I appreciate it.

I originally included a tidbit on sudden wealth but opted to remove it. There's a good resource on the subject I read in the past. He addresses the lottery, settlements and inheritance. While I've never focused on the lottery for wealth depletion (hence my ignorance) I've researched other iterations (generational, high income, etc) to understand where they erred.

I used to enter sweepstakes long ago but I stopped. One of the members of our community won the HGTV Dream House. I believe it was Jackson Hole. The majority who'd done the same had to sell. That was my turning point. I was reading Kiyosaki at the time. While I know the truth behind the tale his books were instrumental in helping me move from an employee to owner's mindset he discussed. I devoured the topic and continue to this day.

Now I think differently. I'm less inclined to wonder how I'll win to have the same. I'll ask myself what I need create and sell to accomplish it. That wasn't always the case.

A $30 million jackpot would come to around $20 million after federal and local taxes. I would give 90% to various churches, family, and others. I would probably set asside $10 million just to help random people following personal tragedies or hardships. That way I could anonymously give $10,000 to 1000 individuals in their time of need.

I would still have $2 million for myself which would still be way more than I need, so I would probably end up giving most of that away over time as well.

I love your approach. I think I would do something similar. I just don't need a lot of money for my lifestyle. I would probably buy a new vehicle only because I'm looking to do that now. Other than that, I love the thought of having $10 million to disperse to random folks, making a tough situation better.
