• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

To cut a long story short, I have chosen to give up alcohol for Lent. I was out with a group of friends today at an event I would normally drink at. I was sticking to coffee and coke. One of the group(who I don't particularly like but tolerate as he is part of a group the vast majority of whom I do like) I suspect of putting something in my coffee. Knowing this person, he would do it as he thought it was funny.

I know this sounds incredibly immature but that's the sort of person he is. He is also quite hostile to the Christian faith. I am not sure whether this is the case or not. There is obviously nothing I can do about it if it is. I may be a little paranoid. Anyway, let's assume it's true. What should I do about this? I'm pretty sure that I can stay abstinent now until Easter(I know Lent doesn't count on Sunday's but I have decided, with the possible exception of Communion wine, to stay abstinent on Sundays as well).

I realise this is more about Lent than alcohol abuse but I've decided to post it here as I have posted fairly regularly on here about my alcohol issues and hoped for a sympathetic ear.
