  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you had to pick a country song...

my song would have to be Lonestar - Already there. The majority of my friends live in the US and I live in England. So this song, about learning to see people in the things around you, who are actually miles away :D

He called her on the road
From a lonely cold hotel room
Just to hear her say I love you one more time
And when he heard the sound
Of the kids laughing in the background
He had to wipe away a tear from his eye
A little voice came on the phone
And said "Daddy when you coming home"
He said the first thing that came to his mind

I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
I'm your imaginary friend
And I know I'm in your prayers
Oh I'm already there

She got back on the phone
Said I really miss you darling
Don't worry about the kids they'll be alright
Wish I was in your arms
Lying right there beside you
But I know that I'll be in your dreams tonight
And I'll gently kiss your lips
Touch you with my fingertips
So turn out the light and close your eyes

I'm already there
Don't make a sound
I'm the beat in your heart
I'm the moonlight shining down
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there

We may be a thousand miles apart
But I'll be with you wherever you are

I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there
Oh I'm already
There

ive also got "Who Am I" by Jessica Andrews stuck in my head

If I lived to be a hundered
And never see the seven wonders
That'd be all right
If I don't make it to the big leagues
If I never win a grammy
I'm gonna be just fine
Because I know exactly who I am

CHORUS
I am RoseMary's granddaughter
The spitting image of my Father
And when the day is done
My Momma's still my biggest fan
Sometimes I'm clueless and clumsy
But I've got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
It's all a part of me
And that's who I am

So when I make a big mistake
or when I fall flat on my face
I know I'll be alright
So if my tender heart gets broken
I will cry those teardrops knowin
I will be alright
Cause nothing changes who I am

Repeat Chorus

I'm a saint and I'm a sinner
I'm a loser and a winner
I'm steady and unstable
I'm young but I am able

Repeat Chorus and Fade

For some reason, country songs seem to resonate with me more when I am feeling badly about life.

Given how I really don't know what direction my life will be going in once i get my degree next year, the song that has stuck with me lately is Kenny Chesney's "There Goes my Life."

Long Black Train

Artist: Turner Josh

There's a long black train,
Coming down the line,
Feeding off the souls that are lost and crying,
Rails of sin, only evil remains
Watch out brother for that Long Black Train

Look to the heavens
You can look to the skies
You can find redemption
Staring back into your eyes
There is protection and there is
Peace the same, burn in your ticket for that
Long Black Train

'Cause there's victory in the Lord I say,
Victory in the lord,
Cling to the Father and his holy name,
And don't go ridin' on that Long Black Train

There's a engineer on that Long Black Train,
Makin' you wonder if the ride is worth the pain,
He's just a waitin' on your heart to say
Let me ride on that Long Black Train,

But you know there's victory in the Lord I say,
Victory in the Lord,
Cling to the Father and his holy name,
And dont go ridin' on that Long Black Train

Well I can hear the whistle from a mile away,
It sounds so good
But i must stay away
That train is a beauty in making everybody stare
But its only destination is the middle of nowhere,

But you know theres victory in the Lord I say,
Victory in the Lord,
Cling to the Father and his holy name,
And don't go ridin' on that Long Black Train

I said cling to the Father and his holy name
And dont go ridin' on that long black train
Yeah, watch out brother for that long black train
The Devil's a drivin' that long black train.

Gary Allan's "Man to Man." I was listening to a new country station last week for a little while one day. I heard the Rascall Flatts song "Take Me There" which sort of makes me feel bitter, then "Man to Man" came on right after it, which I had never heard. I felt kind of convicted and I knew God was using it to minister to me.
