Hi Countryangel. It's nice to meet you.

To answer your question; in a word, yes. The Lord loved you long before you ever knew or heard of him. He died for you as He did for the whole world. All that is required on your part is to believe it. It has already been done... just waiting for anyone who will believe.

John 3:16-18
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

There’s a passage in James “Even the demons believe — and shudder.” Belief in that sense isn’t salvation. But normally when we say we believe in someone we mean more than believing facts. When your parents believe in you, it’s more than facts. When people talk about being justified by faith, that’s what they mean. It means having faith in Jesus in the sense of trusting him. More specifically, trusting your life to him.

Jesus wanted us to be followers. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t require you to pass any tests. But it is a commitment. Or perhaps, a general orientation of your life. Jesus says it’s about basing your life on love and God and neighbor. It’s important not to turn this into a big guy sitting in heaven making sure you meet a certain quota of loving acts each day. But still, Jesus’ parables about judgement show that he does expect our lives to make at least some difference to others.

That is a wonderful step in the right direction. Open your heart and let Him in and you will know the feeling of true love. God Bless and keep up the good fight!!

No, the devils believe and they confessed who Jesus was.
Simon the sorceror believed (and was baptised) but his heart was not right (Acts 8:5-18)

What is "salvation"?
Salvation is deliverance rom the old natural state with a stony heart and mortality.
Jesus saves by giving His Life, his Spirit, so you need to receive that.

"he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour" (Titus 3:5-6)

"they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance
... Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost,
he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear" (Acts 2:4, 33)

Simple question for you:
have you received this?

CA, following the Lord is not merely a matter of mental assent. If you read the first ten verses of Romans 10, you will see that Paul refers to both the head and heart as necessary for salvation.

It might be helpful to think in terms of trust rather than belief. There's an old story of an acrobat who walked a wire across a river and back. Everyone was amazed at his masterful ability. He then asked the crowd if they thought he could carry someone across in a wheelbarrow. They all agreed he could. But then he asked a certain man to actually get in a wheelbarrow, and that was a different story.

Thats the difference between head faith and heart trust. The willingness to place your wellbeing in someone else's care. Thats what relationship to Jesus is all about – the Bible tells us to sanctify Him as Lord in our hearts. He's in charge. We follow. He knows better than we.

If you believe Christ is Lord and Savior, that's a good beginning. Now work on the trust angle. Deepen your belief. Study, get to know more about the Jesus presented in the Bible. He may be different than what you've heard of Him. Obey and conform to whatever light you have or are given.

You might give special attention to the book of James. Theologians have spent a lot of time contrasting him to Paul, but the two are in complete harmony. Paul gives the play-by-play, and James adds the color. Paul stressed faith, but James is a reality check to make sure we're not merely giving lip service to faith.

You might also take a step back from your pursuit, and get a little perspective. Imagine Jesus in the same room with you. How would you relate to Him? Make it very personal. Look for little ways you can let Him further into your heart and life. Persist and persevere at it, patiently over time. This is a process, one every disciple is in.

I believe that Jesus is Gods son and the only way to Heaven.
That's a good start, it's good that you know Jesus is the only way to heaven, but, is there anything else?

What about he the only way to save and redeem us and forgive sin? (solution to the sin problem) What about we are his Children? What about Jesus IS God? What about God is Love, and anything done out of Love is born of God? What about Jesus being King in heaven and is operating here on earth, right now, as we speak? Do you believe in his "presence" in the here and now? What about his future coming kingdom to earth, and how that changes the earth?

God Bless!

Sorry if this has been mentioned. I don't have time to read them all.
It depends on your definition of believe. James 2:19 says even the demons believe and tremble. To believe doesn't mean to just believe that Jesus was a real man. But a genuine belief where you will trust him at his word. Where all your hope of salvation is in him alone. If you truly trust him he will be the Lord of your life.

(2 Cor 13:5) says, "examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you-- unless, of course you fail the test?"

And then in the 1st book of John, John gives us 6 marks that a true believer will carry.
A true believer will....
1. Not carry on living in an unrepentant state of sin(1 John 3:9)
2. Will believe Jesus is the only way of salvation. (1 John 5:1)
3. Will strive to live a righteous life and be conformed to the image of Christ (1 John 2:29)
4. Will have a special love for your fellow brethren in Christ (1 John 3:14) 5. Will desire not the things of this world but rather you will desire the things of God ( 1 John 5:4)
6. Will take great care to avoid even the things that can even lead to sin (1 John 5:18)

* please note that these are not works we must do in order to be saved but rather this is our new nature having been born again. (John 3:13), "truly, truly I tell you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God"
