If you are single, do you choose to be that way and why do you?

I am single and I choose to be that way simply because now is not a good time for me to get into a relationship with any man!!!

Ditto. I'm a full-time graduate student right now and I'm also planning on moving out of state when I graduate. It wouldn't be fair for me to get involved with a man that I don't have time for and will end up uprooting in 15 months. It's just not worth the heartache.

Well, right now I don't feel the desparate need to be in a relationship, and I kind of like the independance and freedom that I have while being single. Granted, I probably won't complain if God were to plop me down and tell me specifically to get out of my singleness, but that doesn't seem to be what's going on at the moment.

I'm too mentally unstable My interests are unorganized, I'm still too obsessive (i.e. I don't balance multiple pursuits well), and I still prefer to spend almost all my free time alone (to the chagrin of the people I live with).

At first I really wanted to be in a relationship, but it was more because all of my friends were in them. I realized that was a baaaad reason to do anything. Then I got in a relationship, but let some un-Godly actions sabotage it. Since then, I've been waiting on God to tell me the next thing to do. Currently, He's telling me to focus on preparing for my future. God bless and nothing happen, I've got a lot of living to do. I'm done rushing God. Doesn't make Him move any faster and it creates alot of wear and tear on me.

I am single, and I have never been in a relationship of any kind, but I do hope that somehow I will end up in one in the next four, five, six years, because, quite frankly, my personality requires that I have someone who is always there that I can talk with.

Why am I single so far? Well, I believe that the Lord wants me to mature more and become more wise before he puts me in a relationship. He has also given me the provision that if I am to find love, it will occur through a developing friendship that will end up as love without me even really noticing. It should be interesting to see how everything actually shakes out.

I am single because I haven't chose not to be. I've had offers and opportunities that I didn't really want but haven't really sought out that which I might want. I know I could choose to not be single but it will require doing things that aren't easy for me like asking a girl out

That has to be really hard because I was a part-time college student and worked part-time and it wore me out back in the mid 1994-1995. Good for you!!

Not to nit pick, but would this not indicate that you are single by choice?

Granted, I can see where the desire to find someone special would be a major desire that I think would be normative to human nature (as in, everyone has this desire, even if it is only a slight inclination)... but I would almost think that many people, for one reason or another, if they are single, it is through choice that they are single... Otherwise, we would marry the first unattached person of the opposite sex that we see.

So I guess to redefine things, we are intentionally single until we meet someone that we would consider as compatible to us and God directs circumstances to point toward pursuit of the relationship... Though for this "preparation time", be content and pursue the LORD above all things...
