... how does the biology of that work? What keeps living things from dying?
I guess that that little thing does not fall off the end of the DNA when the cell replicates so that there is perfect cellular reproduction.

However, there is no real evidence one way or the other that there was no death before the fall. People ate plants, so the plant eaten sort of died. On the other hand, God is going to create a new Heaven and Earth with no death. So a world without death is clearly not impossible.

Hello. "Sinlessness" is the antithesis to death, and decay, and corruption and disease, and all that accompanies it.

Happy New Year to you. :)

I got a better one. If there really was an eternal God of creation and love who out of love dealt with His creation with eternal justice/judgement and bridged the gap of our failure to chose to honor and glorify Him, how could we ignore or refuse to accept such a gracious gift?

This is the C/E forum. Apologetics is down the hall ----->

(Also, immediately changing the subject is not a good look from an witnessing perspective.)

Which is "Good News" indeed, but nothing to do with the matter at at hand.

Who says there wasn't any death before the Fall and that this is definitely implied in the book of Genesis ???

I don't say that.

What is really in question here, how much time elapsed until the fall? Let's assume it wasn't a great amount of time. Let's also note that after the fall, Adam managed to almost live an entire thousand years without dying. If he could do that after the fall, and that when he was in the garden up until he fell, and that this was a way less amount of time, as opposed to after the fall, where he almost lived a thousand years before he died, it seems to me then, whatever it was that kept him alive after the fall should be no different than what kept him alive until he fell. If there were millions of years involved until he fell, that might be different altogether. But if his time in the garden until he fell was less than his time after the fall until he died, I fail to see what it is that there is to try and figure out here?

Neither do I or many other Christians, but it's standard YEC doctrine.

Animal Death Before the Fall?
This response seems odd to me. It seems to say that without the fall, Adam and Eve would have been in the same situation as the restored world described in 1 Cor. But Paul makes it clear that in the new world we are different than here. Not just sinless, but a different kind of body.

If you're going to take a literal view of Genesis, Calvin's explanation seems better. He thinks Adam and Eve would eventually have died, in effect. It wouldn't have been the kind of death that was threatened for disobedience, but rather a peaceful passing into eternal life. The things that make death the threat it is wouldn't apply to animals. Depending upon your view of the new existence, they either simply cease to exist or they pass into eternal life. The prophets certainly speak of animals in the restored world, but you could probably read that as metaphorical.

We don't have a lot of biblical information about what life and nature was like before the fall. We know that the fall introduced suffering and death to Adam and Eve and their children. It's possible that other living things experienced death before the fall. To some extent this would be necessary. Adam and Eve were told to eat plants and fruit. This would certainly entail some sort of dying/breaking down of living and organic material. Also when God warns Adam that they will certainly die if they eat the forbidden fruit, presumably Adam would have had some concept of death in order to understand what the Lord was saying.

There was no "second death" before the fall. God walked with Adam and Eve and the Holy Spirit dwelt in them. After the fall the Holy Spirit departed thus the second death became relevant.
Jesus Christ of Nazareth is perfect yet He died while in the flesh and rose again in the flesh, incorruptible.
Be blessed.

Some think that carrots are a part of the curse and came only as a result of the fall.
LOL! So are flies, and especially spiders, and lest i forget, fleas.

I read an article out of Israel a while back that said they can now reverse aging and stop the DNA ends from degradation. God will be back soon to set things straight.
