I think the big question is why the end is being delayed so long. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
So, you're saying the end will come when there are no more righteous people on the planet?
Why? Are you an astronomer with inside info the government won't allow us to know or there would be worldwide panic? Even more than if Trump gets anywhere near the White House gate??? Run for the hills!.
I'll let you know after July 2016
.
That makes no sense. If we see Jerusalem expanding and prospering, as it has in the last 70-odd years, how can the Lord come like a thief in the night? And if He's to come like a thief in the night, we know it won't be in daylight hours so that considerably whittles His ETA down a bit.It's in the bible. God will accomplish 70 years in the desolation of Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will expand and prosper, fully rebuilt with a 3rd temple.
We know the time and season is near when the Lord will come as a thief in the night, we just don't know the day and hour.
.
Remind you of the day September 11, 2001?"For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.
Enjoy the delay while you can. Feed the birds, ride your bike, pet your cat and just rejoice in this day of the Lord's creation while you can.
When He starts rolling this place up like a scroll, things might be happening fast.
The Lord told us to watch for HIS coming, not for the End Times. Smart.I honestly understand this. While I do not believe God intends us to be without loved ones, we are warned:
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
I have come to God with the approach in prayer, for years now, that he would harden my heart against this world; even as he hardened Pharo's against God. I have also prayed for the ability, and the faith to endure not only my own persecution, but that of my family's, and be granted the inability to deny Jesus Christ. I have made the decision to take God's warning seriously, and make preparations. This is going to sound harsh. My wife, and children know that if I am put in a situation of denying Jesus to save their lives; they are about to die. I exspect the same. And again, it may be harsh, but I have some members of my family I know will happily receive the mark in order to preserve their own life. I have all but disassociated myself from them. This life here and now is not what is important. What is important is our walk with Christ, and believing in his promise.
This also brings me back to the original point. We have to LOOK for his return. No, we do not know the exact day or time, but we can see the signs. I believe we need to actively look for these signs.
The Lord told us to watch for HIS coming, not for the End Times. Smart.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. (Matt 2:10)Matthew 24:32-33 tells us when we see all these signs (Matthew 24:4-31), it's very near. So we are supposed to see these things.
Watching doesn't mean looking at the sky. Jesus devoted multiple parables to what He means by watching in Matthew 24-25.
But when these things come about, let your heads be lifted up, because your salvation is near. (Luke 21:28)

Oh, wait.
I'll let you answer first.
You never know. Do you?And since we all know "near" means "thousands of years away", there's clearly no rush.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. (Matt 2:10)
But when these things come about, let your heads be lifted up, because your salvation is near. (Luke 21:28)
Let's presume that it was true that we were going to see the end very soon, and that the shadow of farewell is upon us right now.
How would you feel?
I think I would be entirely at peace if we were going to taken away, but I would also feel bittersweet about it.
The Lord told us to watch for HIS coming, not for the End Times. Smart.
I'd have to read the topic before commenting. What is the title?On another topic, we discussed the "sign" of the "Son of Man" that makes the people of the earth mourn.
Since, you seem interested in stars... do you think that sign is a special star or ?? If so, why does it cause
the people to mourn.

A temple finally being built in Jerusalem would cause worldwide praise among Christians. Good. We would be too busy to panic.
Mainly because the reason is I never studied the subject in any depth. I even left a church when they started studying Revelation to avoid it. Eschatology is not exactly my forte in the bible. I know very little of it--and more-so have always avoided the entire subject for personal reasons. I saw how it destroyed and twisted what little faith my father had when he latched onto it amidst a bunch of obsessive people trying to figure out the whole thing and predict the "exact return" of Jesus. I don't like recalling those horrible days.
