  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here's a tougher one. Someone points a gun at your child's head and asks you the same question...

Wow, that is a tough one. I definitley wouldn't deny Him but I don't know exactly what I would do. I don't know that I would have the strength to just say Yes knowing that my child will be killed. Wow...something to think about!

You don't know the intention of the shooter. Why not just do what I said and be honest if you don't know the odds. It's 50/50 chance.

Now if it were a christian going berserko on atheists and you knew this, saying yes wouldn't hurt anyone.

If it were an atheist out there to kill christians, just say no and pray for forgiveness:cool:

I find the answer a little more complicated. I'm not afraid to die, though I don't invite serious injury to myself or to others that I can protect. But to protect someone risking death or even serious injury to myself would be an easy choice if not automatic.

Now as for a choice of standing there and taking possible if not eminent serious injury or even death, I have already experienced such a situation. This 300 pound muscle bound (no exaggeration) Godzilla of a guy came running at me to pull my head off simply because he was informed that I was a Christian. No idea what got into him (or who) but he was charging at me and I simply stood there waiting for whatever. I knew the reason for the attack and felt rendered still by God in this situation. There was no fear, all I could think of is God's grace for that moment and nothing else really mattered. Amazingly, out of nowhere two guys lept infront of me and subdued the guy before he reached my position. No gun involved, but at close range, the human body can be more effective than any little pistol.

Would that have been my choice? possibly not, I'm extensively formally trained in forms of hand to hand combat as well as weapon defense. I had been in plenty of fights when I lived in LA and two things were the norm being it lasted but a few seconds and that the attacker very commonly needed medical attention after those few seconds.

But what if someone came up to me an pointed a gun in my face because (knowing for fact) that he was only doing it because I am a Christian? Still can't answer that, really. I can be like Peter and say "I'll die for you, Lord" or at least say that now, but who knows? I may disarm the guy and send him to jail where he belongs; so he can't hurt someone else or me. Or maybe I'll just think of God's grace once again... lol and maybe have two guys jump in again, but if not, I'm no worse for ware; it's only flesh.

Well anyway, of course I'd say yes, but who is holding the gun at that time I could not say. Oh well, if I do miss my target, I'm sure no answer or a gurgle is as good as a yes, but he better look up because two guys may swoop outa nowhere and...

The toughest question would be are you willing to virtually put a gun to your own head?

Are YOU willing to chance martyrdom in applying the Christian tenet of "Love you enemy?"

Are you willing to risk your life in order to save it, and the lives of your children?

Would you vote for peace with your own individual action?

Would you and the other members of the Body of Christ march as so
diers with the cross going on be ore, right into the valley of the shadow of death...

Is this the generationand the momentfor all who insist upon peace to stand up with their Prince of Peace indwelling and ask for peace or death?

Will you/ would you seed the first maswive Peace March? (It would be televised and observed everywhere)

START SOMETHING BUDDY:

Isa. 60:8 Who are these that fly as a cloud (from the Americas), and as the doves (of peace) to their (cathedral) windows (if NOT the Christians)?

Isa. 60:9 Surely the isles (of the New World) shall wait for me, and
the ships of Tarshish first (from Western Europe), to bring thy sons (of Abraham) from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD, (YVHV), thy God, (the Word of scripture), and to the Holy One of Israel, (Jesus), because he hath glorified thee (in Christianity).

Isa. 60:10 And the sons of strangers (from the Americas) shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister peace unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee (in Holocaust), but in my favour (restoring my chosen to Israel) have I had mercy on thee.

Isa. 60:11 Therefore thy gates, (O'Promised Land), shall be open
continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring
(as tourists) unto thee the forces of the (rich Christian) Gentiles, and
that their kings may be brought (supporting your sovereignty).

Isa. 60:12 For the nation and (religious) kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

"i have nothing to fear about the end of my life. do you?"

not to sound suicidal, but death is a part of life. it will come, and it should be accepted. i will fight to live instead of roll over&die, but when it's my time it's my time, and there's nothing in his plan that i can change.

I don't think that anyone can really say how they will react. I mean if you look at the Vietnam war, there were allot of guys that in the beginning just wanted to go over and shoot some Nam's and blow stuff up etc, but it is a fact that when the bullets started flying they were usually the first to jump in a hole and scream for there mothers....

I don't really think it is something one should worry about. The Lord won't test His children above their strenght if you are in His will. I do however believe that to die for your faith (only as a christian) is one of the biggest blessing the Lord can give to one of His children. ... :groupray:

Many martyrs have said 'yes' to this over 2000 years. I hope I would too.

I think I will be answering yes by taking a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. mI am planning a tour of both the Jewish State and the PLO occupied Gaza and West Bank. I will be spending money hoping to bless the peope there and contribute to a growing peace movement.

In my opinion, Isaiah recorded what I believe is the salvation of Israel by the body of Christ, the spirit fulled church:

Isa. 60:1 Arise, (O'Israel), shine; for thy enlightenment is come, and
the glory of the LORD, (the meaning of Hebrew scripture), is risen upon thee.

Isa. 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth (for 1000 years), and (a Dark Age), the gross darkness of the people: but the LORD, (the Word), shall arise upon thee thereafter, and his glory shall be seen in the enlightenment upon thee.

Isa. 60:3 And the Gentiles (of Christianity) shall come to thy
enlightenment (O'Israel), and kings (of political rule) to the brightness of thy (nation's) rising.

Isa. 60:4 Lift up thine eyes you people of Israel round about, and
see: all, (the 1.44 billion Christians), they gather themselves together,
they come to thee (in the Promised Land): thy sons (of the Diaspora) shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side (from 1948 forever).

Isa. 60:5 Then, thereafter, thou shalt see (these hoards of Christianity, and ye O'Israel), flow together (with them), and thine
heart shall fear (the truth of Christ in your conversion), and be enlarged (in understanding of scripture); because the abundance of the sea (of unconscious realizations) shall be converted unto thee, the
forces of the Gentiles, (now Christians, 1.44 billions in number), shall come unto thee.

Isa. 60:6 The multitude of (their) camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah (Jordan of today) ; all they from Sheba shall come (to pilgrimage in the Holy Land): they shall bring gold and incense (and economic prosperity); and they shall show forth the praises of the LORD.

Isa. 60:7 All the flocks (of the Palestinian immigrants from Gaza) of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of (the West Bank) Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory, (the House of Israel and the House of Judah).

Isa. 60:13 The glory (of Golan Heights) of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree (of the West Bank), the pine tree (in Ramallah), and the box (in Gaza) together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary, (the Holy Land); and I will make the place of my feet, (Jerusalem), glorious.

Isa. 60:14 The sons also of them (in Germany and Western Europe, in Russia, too) that afflicted thee (O' Israel), shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee, (the Holy People of scripture), shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee (Hebrew) Christian, The city (of the New Jerusalem) of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel, (The Promised Land).

Isa. 60:15 Whereas thou, (Israel), hast been forsaken and hated, so
that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations (in the spiritual fulfillment of scripture).

Isa. 60:16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the (Christian, once called) Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD, (the almighty Power of the Universe), am thy Saviour and (Christ) thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob (David, the root and lion of Judah).

Isa. 60:17 For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring
silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy
officers peace (officers throughout the Promised Land), and thine exactors (of taxes) righteousness (in economic productivity throughout Israel).

Isa. 60:18 Violence (of Terrorism) shall no more be heard in thy land,
wasting by armies nor destruction with extortionistic bombings within
thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls (Jewish) Salvation, and thy
gates (Christian) Praise.

Isa. 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD, (Jesus),
shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God, (the rational
Universe), thy glory.

Isa. 60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy (New) moon withdraw itself (in that day when electricity will light the land): for the LORD, (Jesus), shall be thine everlasting light, (drawing unending pilgrims day and night to thee), and the (2000 years of) days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Isa. 60:21 Thy (Jewish) people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the (Promised) land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work (and prophesied miracle) of my hands, that I, (the Word) may be glorified.

Isa. 60:22 A little one shall become a thousand (in 1948), and a small one a strong nation (by 1980): I the LORD will hasten it in his time.
