I hope we can take for granted that Christians are a minority group. Some of Christianities basic beliefs are:

Man is sinful.
His sin separates him from God.
Jesus was both God and man.
Jesus was crucified, and in so doing paid the penalty for the sin of the world.
By believing in Christ, I can receive pardon for my sin from God.
Only accepting Christ's forgiveness I become a member of God's family.

Most people in the world who are aware of these truths choose to reject them. The consensus of the world is clearly we are wrong. Jesus forwarned his followers that this would be the case. Can anyone else see the irony of Christians appealing to consensus of opinion in the world as being the ultimate test truth.

The spiritual truths derived from the crucifixion are founded in the events of the crucifixion. We have historical evidence and reliable eye witness accounts of what happened, yet most people still choose to reject the truth we believe.

Consensus of opinion, even by the majority of the worlds population can be wrong. The majority can be wrong. The same applies to the learned and the simple.

1 billion out of 6 billion is a minority. So?

Pretty much it...

Most people in the world who are aware of these truths choose to reject them. The consensus of the world is clearly we are wrong.

And your consensus is that the rest of them are wrong...let's hear it for the us/them mentality! Guaranteed to create "persecution" where none existed...

Of physical, scientific truth, no, not ironic at all.
Jesus walked on water, but the opinion of the world is that anyone else who attempts it runs the risk of drowning.
When the entire world tells you something, it's worth at least a listen...

The spiritual truths derived from the crucifixion are founded in the events of the crucifixion. We have historical evidence and reliable eye witness accounts of what happened, yet most people still choose to reject the truth we believe.

They don't find those eyewitnesses as reliable as we do. Why do you blame them for that?

Consensus of opinion, even by the majority of the worlds population can be wrong. The majority can be wrong. The same applies to the learned and the simple.

The minority can also be wrong. And the smart money says there's a reason for that...

Right, so the majority can be wrong (just as the minority can be). Is there more to this or is that your entire point?
