The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm sorry Raven this will help you maybe it answers lots of questions just don't click on ones that may cause OCD triggers for you. Does God exist? Is there evidence for the existence of God?. Also don't worry about 2012 the world will end when God wants it to. The world can end at any time it could end seconds to years to centuries from now but the Bible says nobody can predict when the world will end.

I'm so sorry those didn't help you... And my doubts are very very real but sometimes they go away I know you've said your doubts don't leave you. What's making you think what if Atheists are right/smarter is your OCD that's all that is. God loves you very much and he understands your doubts even more than you do he knows everything about everyone. Remember his Grace is sufficient for all things including and especially your doubt. We'll get through this I'm sure you said you've had past OCD themes before and I'm sure you felt as hopeless in them as you do in this one but somehow you got past it and you'll get past this one for sure!
have you been talking to people it's nice to get that stuff off your chest. Are you on medicine? Try to just focus on God problems before bed it's extremely hard but it will calm the OCD down some if you just have a certain time where you think about God.

I am just so scared it isn't my OCD that doubts God exists its me. I can't know it isn't. I never wanted to doubt God exists. I used to think what could be worse than thinking I was a pedophile. This is way worse. I take Zoloft and Xanax. Slowing weaning off serequel because it made me very ill. Whenever I change meds it changes my body chemistry and I can have heart palps so I like to avoid medication. Still don't know if I want to go to therapy. I went for many years and none of my many therapists could help my pedophilia theme. That went away when I said maybe I am a pedophile but I did not choose it I was born that way.

Well you can know it is because you care far to much for it to not be OCD. You don't want to doubt God exists but OCD makes you doubt it makes you think things you don't want to think. You said you thought what could be worse than your pedophilia theme and that's exactly what OCD does it takes whatever theme it has and just makes it seem like the worst thing on the planet and I can say that for a fact because my first OCD theme was horrible I thought my world was ending. How long have you been on Zoloft and Xanax? Did you notice any changes in your OCD after you had taken the medicines for a while? You do need to see a therapist for sure though they can help you with all the mind tricks and crazy stuff OCD does to you. One thing my doctor said was OCD patients ask the wrong question he said we need to retrain the brain to ask the right question. One thing that helps is to look straight at the doubts and tell them I don't know if God is real I'm going to believe anyway though. Tell the thoughts you don't affect the fact that Jesus loves me and I'm saved! You don't affect whether or not God is real so just leave doubts. You have to try to take your mind off God some "I'm struggling with doing this too." but you have to take your mind off him some you're going to exhaust yourself physically and mentally by thinking about him so much. Set aside a time to think about God and why I say to think about him at night is it's the best time to you just lie there and think and talk to God about everything he'll here you! It's also a good time too because your OCD doesn't have the rest of the day to flare up either you'll be asleep soon. Don't worry about the pedophile theme OCD can be relatesd with many things including sexual and religious things!

No I just have these thoughts saying atheistic stuff is right occasionally. But DO NOT read atheistic articles that will make your OCD worse.

Hi Raven, have you ever tried inositol? It's really helping me so far. Also taking magnesium and zinc has helped me too. Also L-Theanine is good for taking the anxiety down a notch. And it's all natural!

if God wasnt real neither would you be. Dont let Satan fool you so easily. Im sorry but you need to let go of these thoughts. Faith is believing without seeing. You dont need anymore proof than that everything IS! If you truely dont believe in God then yes you will go to hell, but if you get thoughts that arent your own then it is just the devil messing with your brain. Keep reading God's word and dont let the worldly status quo get to you. their is proofof God but since the world is controled by satan obviously the devil will try to make up junk to take us to hell. I have personal proof of God but i dont want to sit here and explain it. Keep praying and believing. There is no harm in believing but HELL (literally) if you dont.

I never chose to start doubting God exists. I wish I didn't. Your comment really made me spike. Didn't you also used to doubt God existed? What about people who don't have OCD who want to believe in God but cant. I am not saying he does or doesn't exist. I am just saying I can't know either way.

It's okay Raven it kind of made me spike too a bit. But to answer your questions people who want to believe in God are saved even the slightest desire for God shows he's working in you and if he's working in you you're saved. I'm sorry you're struggling with doubt... What I do sometimes is in the morning while riding in the car on the way to school I'll look up in the sky and I don't know how to explain this but I see God the pretty blue skies the mountains and nature I just somehow feel closer to him,
