had to look the word up....overbearing and domineering.....ah well whatever.....just thought that God never changes, what was despicable to Him thousands of years ago would still be despicable to Him today, I guess this is the norm of Christianity today, not that we are under any law, but simply If we see God was against these types of practices, why would we want any type of these actions apart of characters we would idolize as the hero's, certainly I would not even have mentioned it if Harry Potter the sorcerer was depicted as an evil villian. but its like making little Hitler dolls, that speak nice things about Jewish people. ha ha ha isn't that funny, its only a doll its not real!.....but see the holocaust was real, and its not funny, witchcraft is real to make light of it in a childrens adventure, is equivelent. only you don't realize how real witchcraft is thats why its not registering in your good senses

First of all, imperious does not mean overbearing nad domineering. Its a spell to control someone. Anyway...

No one here said witchcraft isn't real. But waving a stick in the air and chanting latin words is not witchcraft.

That's the problem. You're so shortsighted and so intent on finding evil where there is none that you can't understand that.

And how sick that you would compare the Holocaust to Harry Potter. And delusional...

2 Cor. 11:14b-15a: "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness."

Satan doesn't wear a red suit with a name tag that says "Hi, I'm here to deceive you" and point his pitchfork at Christians. Instead, he appears harmless and "light", attractive and positive. He poses as Christ and mixes truth with error. So finding or imposing Christian principles onto works of fiction written by avowed non-Christians (or ignoring the questionable beliefs of professing ones) in no way proves that the likes of Harry Potter are harmless or even positive religious entertainment. Today we have those such as Rob Bell who spread teachings like Universalism and are adored by many Christians as having the truth, and likely will be given places alongside Lewis as great Christian writers. But the question is not how many Christian authors we can find to compare with the Potter series, but whether any kind of magic or blood drinking (!) could possibly be condoned by God.

PS: When Christians feel deprived of entertainment if they can't read books about magic spells, something is seriously wrong. Just my 2 cents.

So says the guy with the R2D2 avatar, where some outside force compelled people to use light sabres to defeat or kill their enemy.

Harry Potter's world is an alternate reality where magic and Christianity coexisted in harmony and that magic was a tool not a religion. In fact, the witches and wizards in HP (the good ones) were Christians.

They were actually referring to a spell in Harry Potter called 'imperio'. To be imperioused in this case would mean that somebody else is controlling you.

Context. Context. Context.

You can't discuss a written work, whether it be the Bible or Harry Potter, if you do not use the language as it was written to mean. In this case, "imperiosed" means to be controlled by someone else. The dictionary definition is moot.

I'm surprised at how dull parents are, thinking that witchcraft is make believe, certianly Harry Potter movies push you into believing witchcraft is fantasy, but ask any real witch how much fantasy is there is in real witchcraft and you would be amazed. The bible tells you sorcery is an abomination, yet when young Harry does it, and your kid mimics Harry's sorcery you just smile and say "its make believe", I don't understand why anyone would want Harry Potter or any of the twilight actors to be your kids idols, or to be fans of these portayals of characters, that stand against everything God is against. Drinking blood, performing rituals of witchcraft, I don't understand if someone says "I love Jesus and want to please Him", and then they love these shows and movies, which are in complete contradiction to the behavior and character of Christ. How is this possible? is there no discernment between good and evil, because Harry is considered a good sorcerer, right! and in Gods eyes there are no good sorcerers, they all are evil

Because Harry Potter is a blatant messianic story. Did this really escape you? Lord, he died and rose from the dead a few hours later in order to destroy the mysterious evil, Rowling all but wrote "And now Harry Potter is enacting the Jesus story, just like Aslan did in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Shouldn't you at least be familiar with the basic facts about the Harry Potter universe before complaining about it.

"The Imperius Curse is one of the three Unforgivable Curses. When cast successfully, it places the victim completely under the caster's control, though a person with exceptional strength of will is capable of resisting it. This makes it unique among the unforgivable curses, as it is the only one of them with a known, reliable method of resistance. The curse's incantation is Imperio."

They celebrate Christian holidays and Harry's parents were buried in a Christian cemetery.

The epitaph on his parents headstone is 1 Corinthians 15:26: The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death

Dumbledore's tomb also had a Bible verse, and when Moody died, Harry marked the grave by gouging a cross into the tree bark above it.

You don't know a single thing about HP and yet you've condemned it???? I believe that's a bit ignorant.

And you're making a joke about casting the spell, which means you acknowledge it is all make believe, and yet you're concerned that its going to destroy your soul???? Do you jump at shadows too?
