  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A few things. First of all, my comments were meant for several people. Secondly, since I've read many of your posts and also conversed with you privately on several occasions, I'm really not concerned about you in this specific regard. Thirdly, as much as I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share some personal information (it wasn't necessary) about your own household, any "distress", to use your word, that I feel is in relation not only to the ones who "amuse" themselves with such things, but also in direct relation to the harvest that is perishing in the field. I don't know about anybody else (I think that I'm "normal"...maybe some of you don't), but Jesus is constantly purging me so that I might bear more fruit for His kingdom. He's primarily concerned about SOULS. How <edit> then can we be sitting around and wasting our time with such nonsense? That's the heart of my issue here...aside from the danger that it's done to many children...and apparently some adults who can't even discern between what's "good" and what's "evil". The justification that I've heard thus far is "It's just fantasy!" Well, that makes it even worse, as far as I'm concerned. Wasting time that could be better spent in regards to the One Whom we call "Lord" with "fantasy". I can't help but wonder how that will all play out in the end. Quite frankly, I don't "wonder" at all. It certainly won't be commended. Anyhow, I'm preaching to myself as much as I am to anybody else. Although I'm not "amused" with such nonsense as has been described here, I've got my own issues in regard to "redeeming the time wisely".

Good night.

Dear God's Word

I have spent I don't know how many hours writing 64858 words in my fantasy novel "La Montaña de Dios" (God's mountain). And it has been not for fun, but to kindle young souls who know little of God.

Philip Pulmann states his case against God in his series of novels. In a way, he has written the anti-Narnia.

You might not have found the evocative power of fantasy, but many, many people around the world do.

Thank you for your response my brother. You had adressed no one but mentioned the vampire thing, so I figured you were speaking (indirectly so) to me. I just wanted to acknowledge your post my brother and assure you. Also, I do realize I did not have to share all that but you seemed very upset and didnt want you thinking I have shelves full of CD's of wizards, devils and witches and vampires and was burning candles and calling on Satan (all that stuff). I didnt want to give you the wrong impression. Though I do know you should know better given our previous conversations.

I havent followed this thread through from the beginning, so forgive me if I have overlooked what has you stirred up. I just take a peek now and again (and I so know better) and do it everytime, God forgive me everytime.

Good night my brother

Everyone posting here is a Christian.

The insinuation, Dawn, was that some of us are not really. I think the money is on "those who don't agree."

Today is a new day and I'm still....NOT worried about superfluous stuff that isn't worth getting upset over. And I still need/want to see the last two Harry Potter movies. Oh what will this poor Christian soul do?!

Continue to allow God to be your rest; and enjoy the movies, unless the Holy Spirit specifically tells you to do something else.

Let us keep in mind that such insinuations in a Christian Only Forum such as this here at CF is against the rules.

Hi RETS. I'm a little curious about something, so I'm hoping that you don't mind me asking you the following questions. I just finished reading your personal testimony on another thread which included the following comments:

Unless I'm misreading you or have accidentally pulled your second quote out of its intended context, it sounds as if you just testified how "far more damaging" involvement with such things as a "vampiric cult" and "every aspect of magick and sorcery possible" were to you than any possible drug use you could have gotten involved in. IF this is the case, THEN why would you tell somebody to "enjoy the movies", movies which glorify these exact things, unless the Holy Spirit specifically tells them to do something else? Would the Holy Spirit EVER find such things to be "enjoyable"? Is God a respecter of persons? Would you mind elaborating on this a bit? Of course, you don't have to, but I'm a little curious as to how I'm supposed to reconcile your two different quotes. I'm NOT accusing of you of being deceitful in either quote...I'm just having a hard time finding the harmony between the two and was hoping that you could help. Thanks.

You're welcome and there's nothing for you to be forgiven of in this regard. You were just being honest...which I certainly always appreciate. Well, it's "Good morning", now. Have a blessed day.

I am back (kicks myself) but this is interesting, who is this speaking of, who will be as one that hath a familiar spirit?

Isaiah 29:24 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be,as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

This one above in context is of Ariel

Ariel meaning

Ariel = "lion of God" or "lioness of God"

1) a name applied to Jerusalem
2) the name of a chief of the returning exiles

Ezekiel 19:1 Moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,

Ezekiel 19:2 And say, What is thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions.

Then here...

Isaiah 29:10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

Unto here...

Isaiah 29:24 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be,as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

Which also seems reflective of here....

James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

EDMONTON -- Canadian children are about to see one of their greatest fantasies come true: the opening of a real-life Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But in a cruel twist of fate, they'll have to wait until high-school graduation to attend.

Advertised as an "adult version of Hogwarts," the Northern Star College of Mystical Studies is now taking applications for its inaugural certification program. Just like Harry Potter's fictional alma mater, the unique Edmonton-based school will teach herbology, potions, astrology and divination, among other magical subjects.

"As we go through the school system and move onto our different careers, some of the magic (of childhood) gets lost," says Robert Rogers, an instructor of plant spirit medicine at Northern Star, on 124th Street at 107th Avenue.

"These kinds of classes are of interest to people who want to rediscover that magic for themselves, for their family, or as a path for a career."

The new school is the result of a merging of two Alberta institutions, the Center College for Wholistic Studies and Prairie Deva College. Although its diploma program is already underway, applications to the two-year certificate program in integrated therapies will be accepted until February (www.centercollege-wholistic.ca).

Rogers, a clinical herbologist, is Northern Star's equivalent of Hogwarts' Prof. Sprout -- though he's more likely to teach plant medicine than how to grow gills using gillyweed. Fellow instructor Laurie Szott-Rogers might be compared to Prof. Slughorn, since her specialties include aromatherapy, flower essences and potions.

Catherine Potter ("no relation to Harry," she quips), a professional astrologer and hypnotherapist, is the college's answer to Prof. Sinistra. And Skye MacLachlan, a dream therapist, tarot practictioner and feng shui specialist, is a more grounded version of Prof. Trelawney.

"Harry Potter starts to get everybody curious about the mystic inside of them," says Potter, a fan of J.K. Rowling's bestselling series. "I think it stirs a yearning in people to know more than just the five senses."

The books aren't the direct inspiration for Northern Star, but the instructors say they help illustrate the connections between the magical and real worlds for mainstream audiences.

"The topics of astrology, herbology and feng shui are all connected to the natural magic of nature and the cosmos," says Szott-Rogers. "These ancient forces help tune us into our own personal and cosmic rhythms."

Although Northern Star is thought to be the first Canadian college linked to Hogwarts, thousands of Canadian adults have been studying the fictional school's magic for years. The most dedicated "students" will likely be in attendance at Lumos 2006: A Harry Potter Symposium this July.

"I had heard about adults that liked this type of stuff and thought it was a little weird," says Debbie McLain, Lumos minister of magic and a stay-at-home mom. "Then I bought the (Potter) books and I couldn't stop reading them."

The Las Vegas event, which combines a fan convention with an academic conference, is expected to attract 1,200 people, including dozens of professors and educators from international universities.

But just like Edmonton's version of Hogwarts U, it's only open to grown-ups.

"We want to keep it age-appropriate," McLain says. "Kids wouldn't care how the social class structure in India is similar to that of the magical world, or the idea of bucolic bullionism -- economics in the wizarding world."

the seed planted will always sprout, somtimes people don't realize what their planting, or what their allowing to be planted in their spirit, but rest assured those weeds will always come forth, maybe not today or next year, but the bible says in Galations 6:7 "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked, a man reaps what he sows" The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. everything you feed your spirit is being sown, you can't imagine feeding your body only donuts and not reaping any bad results, why don't most Christians realize what the bible says about what you sow in your spirit, has reaping results as well

Most follow what they think or want Scripture to say, little actually follow the Scriptures as was written. Instead of trying to understand the context, culture, and language it was originally written in most put a 21st understanding on Scripture and assume upon that the meaning of what things should be.

It would be more right to say that one is following their understanding of Scripture, instead of just following Scripture

I posted on this on the other page with other scriptures, curious to how others might see this, anyone?

Sauls witch brought up Samuel the prophet

Which, if you think about it, if there was a TV show where a woman called upon the name of dead prophets (angels or whichever) that might be (according to some) a more acceptable form of entertainment given "they bring up the prophets" (inspire a more godly in appearance) form of entertainment. Calling upon those who were the true prophets of God (and bring them up for those who are distressed (that type thing) it could be reasoned that way, well you could hear it coming in that way.
