I'm plenty familiar with the Old Testament. God as presented in the Old Testament is not so capricious and petty as to ask me to kill someone.
So my answer is no, if "God" asked me to kill someone I would not do it.

How about if your country asked you to kill someone (or multiple people) would you do it?
What 2PhilVoid said. We are under the message of Jesus, which says to Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself, to not judge but let God do it. I don't think I can kill a person, if that person is doing great evil, I will try my best to stop it, but trust the judgement on God.
I would have no problem being the instrument of Holy Righteousness to carry out the will of my Lord and Savior for the glory of his Holy being.
why in the world would we EVER expect God to show up and ask us to kill another person after everything Jesus went through (and said) to get us to be the kind of people that handled things in a way that Jesus specifically would have handled them.
"in a way that Jesus specifically would have handled them"? Jesus is the same God from the Old Testament. He commanded Abraham to kill his own son. He commanded Moses, Joshua, and his armies to kill all sorts of evil people like the Midianities and Philistines and what not. In fact, his word commands his people to kill witches, homosexuals, fortunetellers, adulterers, nonbelievers, false prophets, and so on. This is how he handled things.
I don't understand how bringing up Jesus is a valid argument. Isn't he the same God that said: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Strap on your swords! Go back and forth from one end of the camp to the other, killing even your brothers, friends, and neighbors."
I would have no problem being the instrument of Holy Righteousness to carry out the will of my Lord and Savior for the glory of his Holy being.
...Y'now, you're right. I didn't think of that. Thanks for the reminder. I always wondered why the Apostles killed other Christians each and every time they sinned...
I'm just saying, you are obviously leaving some parts of what Jesus said out. Sure the Bible says he said to love your neighbors and other instances he tells people to kill their neighbors. Y'now?
"This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Strap on your swords! Go back and forth from one end of the camp to the other, killing even your brothers, friends, and neighbors."
How are you so sure the God of the old testament wouldn't ask you to kill for him?
He commanded Abraham to kill his own son.
He commanded Moses, Joshua, and his armies to kill all sorts of evil people like the Midianities and Philistines and what not.
In fact, his word commands his people to kill witches, homosexuals, fortunetellers, adulterers, nonbelievers, false prophets, and so on.
"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they went throughout the city and did as they were told."
"Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Yes, march against Babylon, the land of rebels, a land that I will judge! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you," says the LORD. "Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction".
He told them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Strap on your swords! Go back and forth from one end of the camp to the other, killing even your brothers, friends, and neighbors."
So, in your estimation, of the two quotes I've placed below, which is more like the quote you've cited?
a) "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth."
b) "But I say to you, do not resist him who is evil: but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also."
Just wondering.
And please don't say: "God would never ask me to do that"
