If Christians Started a New Party, What Would Be the Platform?

What Should Christians Do Politically?

  • Vote Republican Party

  • Vote Democratic Party

  • Vote Republican - but press for kinder, gentler, & thriftier policies

  • Vote Democratic - but press for less radical positions (Gay Marriage, Abortion,...)

  • Vote Constitution Party

  • Vote Libertarian Party

  • Vote New Christian Party (Family Friendly, Less Militaristic)

  • Vote Against any Incumbant (my grandfather always did this)

  • Vote Independant

  • Stay Home On Election Day or Other (I'm sure there are many permutations I missed)

Some have reported that Christians would like to see a new party. Many Christians are Republicans but many are Democrats too. Both parties seem to fall flat for Christians in one or more ways.

Personally, I would like to see a party with the following platform:

1) Pro Family (No Gay Marriage/C.Unions, elimination of marriage penalties...)
2) Pro Life
3) Small Government, Pro Business - Some exceptions (see below)
4) School Vouchers!
5) VAT vs Income Tax (with provisions to avoid regression)
6) I'd like the FCC to fulfill it's charter.

Sounds fairly Republican so far, but also...

7) Less Militaristic - Money Could Be Much Better Used Elsewhere - Plus faith in God is our best defense. War on narcotics should be just as important as war on terror (Afghanistan...)

8) Health Care - I would like to see Universal Care for Children - goes against the small govt. theme, but the cost is a lot less than the war.

9) More Environmentally Friendly (Pollution Credits, Better Promotion & Commercialization of Alt Energy - funny how the alt. energy companies always end up in the hands of oil companies)

10) Immigration - it's what made this country great, but we would need provisions to avoid bankrupting social services.

11) Corporate Governance - I'd like to see the shareholder resolution process become much more transparent and democratic and to allow mutual funds to become activist without the current trading penalties. Do not want to repeal Sarbox or we should at least preserve CEO/CFO responsibility for all financial statements.

It wouldn't work; you are assuming that all Christians will have the same view, and simply looking at denominations will tell you that isn't true.

I have to admit actually, the proximity many Christian groups have to political parties in the United States is slightly disquieting. It's almost as if they are trying to make Jesus into either a Republican or a Democrat, when he was neither. I think religion and politics should be different, and voting should be done on issues alone, not on which party has the "Bible-believing Christian leader" to it

Religion is not teaching False-Politics.
Politics is teaching False Religion.

People who buy intio the False Religion gravitate to the political party professing these beliefs, and people who stand firm in their faith are repelled (and repulsed) by it.

For me Republicans are closer (although not exactly spot on) to my Religion.

Where's the Christian Democratic party? That's pretty much "the" Christian party over here. Not a "major party" in any way, but how would conservative Christians have a majority in national politics...

The first thing Christians need to do is pull their heads out of their... Bibles and get informed on what is going on. They need to do what the Bible says, and not just say what the Bible does. SEEK JUSTICE for everyone in the world, LOVE MERCY for everyone in the world and WALK HUMBLY with God.

Non of the above.
Who? It would have to be someone who truly walks the talk, who has the greater good at heart, not just America's but our neighbors as well. Someone truly interested in peace. Someone who will restore our country back to once was it's glory, respected the world over..and not by our military might.

I am registered as a "non-partisan", which simply means I don't vote according to party, but rather for the person. I think there is both good points and bad points in all parties, and all politicians make bad decisions sometimes.

I didn't know what to mark here... wouldn't this be classified as "Other"?
