You asked why was Jesus tempted . So I gave you scripture as to why Jesus was tempted.

You asked why was Jesus tempted . So I gave you scripture as to why Jesus was tempted.That is not an answer. I asked you for an answer to "why" and not for "spammed up prooftext" of some kind that doesn't answer my reason for asking which is based on you remarks.

Ormly, the question on the table is "How can one walk away from our indwelt Holy Spirit, since we are indwelt forever. My answer is it is impossible, and therefore the "loss of salvation" view is unbiblical.
And my question remains: If it was not possible, then why was Jesus tempted of the Devil? Keeping in mind, he persuaded 1/3 the heavenly host, surely the Devil would have known of its impossibilty.
What was he after by tempting the man, Jesus?

Probably not, he just purposely tries to get people mad at him me thinks...
Satan, the deceiver, is deceived himself. His falling away is proof of that. Thus he would not necessarily know the impossibility of Jesus sinning. He may even know it but refuse to believe it, since he is so filled with self-righteousness and unaccepting of the truth.
That is conjecture and you missing some good stuff to your thinking with such an explanation.
Also just to add, Jesus was not tempted as we are tempted, for His temptation was one of external temptation, while ours is one of internal temptation (we are fallen, He was not). Thus His temptation would more appropriately be identified with Adam's.
O Really? Jesus wasn't "tempted in all ways like man yet without sin". Interesting. If He couldn't fail then why the temptation . . . .as man? Are you also saying He didn't hungry, which is proof He had to deal with an internal temptation?
However, your identifying Jesus with Adam is on the right track.
So, why was Adam tempted? Using the same analogy, why did Adam fail and Jesus succeed? In this you gotta keep in mind that all divine attributes of the "Word" were laid side in the life of Jesus. This will help in placing them pretty much on the same playing field.

How can one walk away from Christ who abides in us forever? To say Christ does not abide in us forever (John 14:16) requires that scripture be nullified by the traditions of men. One effort is to say that the scripture says the Spirit "may" dwell in you forever, not that He will. But that argument may misread the text. Several translations render it "to be with you forever" including the NIV, the ESV, and HCSB. I do not know Greek so I am unable to say whether this verse's version of "eimi" is best translated "may be" rather than "to be." And if the grammar is not decisive, then context suggests "to be" to be the best translation.
